Pirates and hackers will be the eventual destruction of all they love. We can only hope they are all defeated.

As the RATM song goes "No matter how hard you try, you cant stop us now" I buy from the companies that I find put out quality games, the rest I pirate.

It isn't a question of support.  It is a matter of you obtaining a copy of a product that you have no rights to.  Much like a movie theatre.  You aren't allowed to watch a movie and then pay afterwards if you think it is good.  That would be much like tipping or charity.  The product is free, but if you want, you can give us some money. LOL.

But there is no trying to reason with people such as yourself, in their mind they think are right and justified.

Seems like the orignal story is inaccurate. Leave it up to kotaku to get a story and sensationalize it to get hits.

Again, copying isn't theft.

There's no point to reason anyways because you're beating a dead horse. People who want to pirate will do so regardless of DRM, tougher laws, or lower-priced games. Those who pay games will continue doing what they're doing as well. There is nothing here to discuss.

People will always claim copying as theft. It is copyright infringement.
They aren't not the same.

It is still bad, but shouldn't the dev be blamed too here? They built crappy online system that allows pirated copies to hammer their server.

That's awfull, although I do understand and tolerate forms of piracy. I am happy that PS3 gaming piracy so far is non-existant. Console games are just a form of entertainment luxury, I understand that a person who is hungry steals some food, I understand a poor student badly wanting and thus pirating a handy but too expensive scientific application (and for example Windows, Photoshop, etc), but it seems the PC gaming community is continuing its downwards spiral with IMO not to be tolerated behaviour from the majority of users.

With piracy being virtually non-existant on the PS3, at least the console virtually only attracts the more honest software users. Developers should IMO appreciate this (and most seem they do).

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

This. If it's the same outcome either way then why include DRM? The goal, then, should be to get people to respect the developer and game enough to want to purchase it. And there's no quick techology fix for that.
