Why is it then that third party publishers have 30 titles that have sold a million copies on Wii?

Guitar Hero III alone earned Activsion over $300 million in revenue just from the Wii version.

Choose your response (one only please):

A) LalalalahIcan'thearyou!!!

B) Yeah, but those are all Petz crap

C) It's a big-name franchise, of course that sold

D) Bu-bu-but Madworld!

E) All of the above

It will do better, it released pretty much the same time as Pokemon, which didn't help.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

The Source answered this perfectly.

One thing to keep in mind about the Chinatown Wars is that GTA is now a big series in Japan (relatively anyway). Some GTA games have sold 100,000s of copies in Japan.

So if Capcom or someone else decides to release this in Japan Take 2 can get some more cash. I don't think 400k/400k/200k is a stretch at all really, and it could do more than that (or less). If the game comes out in Japan its clearly going to get to 500,000 worldwide at least, and probably a bit over 1m realistically, which is low for a GTA game but still probably profitable (1,000,000 * $35 ~ $35 million in revenue from the game, maybe $10 million to make it, $18 million to stores so they get their cut, $5 million to marketing...that would be a $2 million profit)

Nintendo handhelds have legs, I thought?

GTA games have legs. The PSP versions (both) still sell over 5k a week.

GTA4 sold more than 200k in Japan.

I choose "C" it fills perfectly.

That is my point - if they release it in Japan where DS is the most popular system ever - literally - it should easily do over 1 million units worldwide. I don't think it would do more than 250,000 on DS in Japan though as its not associated with Nintendo machines in the region.

Yes, it seems every console in Japan does have a more disctinct audience now.

(DS - Single player RPGs, Party games, Nintendo games)
(PSP - Multiplayer RPGs, Sports, and Fighters)
(PS3 - Sports, More violent games, and Shooters)
(360- SHMUPS and Shooters)
(Wii - Nintendo, motion heavy games like M&S and Taiko, etc.)

At least my take.
