Forums - Nintendo - Business Insider: GTA Chinatown Wars bellyflops (88,704 sold in US)

so it sold just 0.09 but VGC says that it sold 0.2, too bad

this is awful sales for a GTA game, i guess it was too late to release a Ds version

Gold star for reading the thread before posting, bro.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

i still want to believe the game is going to have legs

is the data for Europe sales correct!? (at least)

Everyone is looking at these numbers and wondering what happened to VGC.

The same thing happens every month.

MAYBE NPD HAS IT WRONG?

I know this goes against conventional wisdom -- the NPD is all-knowing and all-seeing. But if you don't track Wal-Mart and Toys R Us, are you not going to have really low-ball numbers for Nintendo software this generation?

Even at that, the sales are less than what people expected.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Desparation has hit this thread very hard. This is some meltdown.

VGC says it has sold 52k this week, i hope it's true

Wrong Handheld

 more like wrong art style.

here is my two reasons.

Kids these days only know 3D GTA, if anthing. Thos sales are by people who grew up on the original and wanted to get some of that old skool experience. So for this game to sell good on PSP it would need to be 3D too.

Not to mention, DS games are piss easy to pirate these days, so I honeslty think there is alot of R4s running warm in peoples DS. Reason I say this is because I told people GTA was out and they should buy it like I did cause it is cool, and they all laughed saying "why don't you download the rom, no one pays for DS games any more".

EDIT: come to think of it, when I got my PSP, there was a exploit to play homebrew stuff if you had liberty city to activate an exploit. That was one selling point of that game too.

Actually the R4 or M3 version's of GTA run bad. Dont drive to fast or the envirorment wont load...plus the muliplayer doesnt work..The same when with chrono trigger...once you step in the portal..the game stops..you cant go any further.. sure if you know the new biterate and change it for the R4 Im sure the newer games would run better...

Would anyone else like to see this game released on Xbox Live? They really should do some stuff like that.

id love it if they did some stuff like that, but the touch screens , , ,

I don't even want this game on XBL, I would rather GTA 2. If I wanted this game I would buy it since I have a DS.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Extremely disappointing sales. Say goodbye to any other big budget M rated games on Nintendo systems.

only 88k?.

I don't understand it. I thought the game would pick up after it's debut.

But apparently not.

I will be very interested to see what this game does next month.
