Only 600k to go to reach Killzone 2's opening week! Okay I know Killzone 2 was hyped way more, but so many people thought madworld would sell amazingly.

....... Wat?

Some people had predictions over a million lifetime for MadWorld, which could happen but it will be a very long time.

Well lifetime IS a very long time so I guess they were right on that point :P

Really, we're not at all qualified to call it a flop. Only Sega can make that call given sales revenue vs the cost of the project. I suspect this title will end somewhere between 250-500k, which would probably make it a decent success for an unknown franchise and potentially worth a sequel.

The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.

bigger flop than motorstorm 2 and resistance2.. and the soo called 2 mill seller lbp flop.wha!

I don't want to bash but this thread is hilarious.

170K? I was really shocked to see that number (and such a nice odd number to name a thread with too lol). I havent followed Madworld that much, but i seen it mentioned so often here on VGC... I thought u all were talking about a flop in the neighborhood of "1 mill became just a ½". But 170K...

So hang on, 170k from a user base of 49mill

is NOT a flop??

Success is based on expectations of profits and whether a game meets those expectations.  By this measure, the business measure, the measure that matters, Madworld is probably not a flop.  But Little Big Planet, which likely cost 5x as much to develop and market than Madworld, may be a flop.

So now that you understand the idea of meeting expected success vs not meeting expected success, we can talk about what is and isn't a flop in the future with less confusion.

Alright. I'll accept that MadWorld is a flop at 170k in 4 weeks on a 49 million userbase... But only if everyone else accepts that Shadow of the Colossus is just a big flop in that case. Nevermind that it's sold well over a million now, because PS2's userbase was about 2,5x what the Wii is, and I don't believe SotC sold 2,5x more than MadWorld has so far.

As in a big flop, I mean, no sequel. No profit. It was a gigantic flop and made no money. Fair? No. Stop trolling now.

Only the US and Japan are accounted for for SotC.....and those two regions have it at 930k. So you failed. But to stoop to Wii fan logic:

"No, SotC didn't flop. It couldn't. Do you really think this was a big budget title? Team Ico was probably happy with the sales of the game"

Oh, no, no, no. You can't change the rules like that, boy. No 930k. 4 weeks. No more, no less. Four weeks. And that is it. Which, for the american sales, puts the game at 140k. I don't like being arrogant, but, sorry to say it, you failed.

Do you think MadWorld will even reach 930k? Ignoring EU (making a compairson to SotC right now)

Long Live SHIO!

Are you going to make a thread every time it crosses 10k units?

170k is hardly a milestone.

Wow, the console with the biggest userbase makes its games have legs. I wouldn't be surprised if it reaches 500k within a few months.
Why can't people understand that games can sell well even if it doesn't have 4 million launch week sales ?
