No one can predict the future, no one can say halo 3 will have a huge boost, or that any of the fantastic sony games will boost it, no one knows, im just going on what i think, but of course there is a good chance im wrong, or that everyone is wrong, and that ps3 will start selling 1 million consoles a month, because mgs4 is out, or maybe halo 3 will sell 5 million consoles, who knows

Well, the term "system seller" had to come from somewhere. Look how much the ps3's sales spiked in Japan just from Hot Shots Golf 5. Look how much Gears did for the 360 last holiday season just because of it's flashy visuals and a massive marketing campaign from MS.

Of course there are system sellers, but when i am stating what i am, im stating how much will each one boost it? Im saying which games will be the true system sellers and how much, that no one knows.

Agreed Lost tears of Kain, lets see if these games that come out for the PS3 help push it to the limits.

We can at least speculate, can't we?  Isn't that what this thread is about?  Games like GT5, FFXII, and MGS4 are likely to sell quite a few systems, moreso than any other upcoming ps3 titles, so as of now, I'm going to go with those.  Sure, it's not guaranteed, but it's a realtively safe bet.

Pff GT is done dude DONE, Forza killed it!!  Fact that Forza has yet to out sell gt4prologue does not matter.  Gt is done it wont sale systems its not a big franchise.  4 games selling 45 million in not a big deal people. Europe doesn not care about cars and anyhting related.

Hus your posts do more damage your position than anyone that responds to them. The fact that PS3 supporters continually point out one title over six months a way as the savior is telling. This has been going on since the PS3's launch. Ten years ago, these same foolish arguments were made by Nintendo fans. I remember saying wait until Banjo Kazooie, Star Fox 64, Zelda, etc. etc. Gaming doesn't work that way Hus. Sony has to have a steady stream of AAA games that will cause consumers to chose its more expensive console over its two cheaper competitors. They don't and likely won't have the games to do so this generation. Sony underestimated the importance of pricing with the PS3. This mistake along with many others will cost Sony this generation more so than anything Nintendo or Microsoft has done.

$399 PS3 and MGS GT GTA - You telling me that wont sale ? lol.

Their price cut doubles sales, another cut will drive the price much more into average joe range.

They wont have a steady stream of aaa games, LMFAO are you high ? You might want to look at the line up bud, even sony haters cant deny its superiority over the competition. Proven franchises, new ips new stuff like LBp that the industry has gone nuts over all in 08.

How can you deny the reality that the two biggest franchises of the last gen are hiting next year, i dont get how alot of you can be all about numbers yet deny Gran Turismo and Grand theft Auto. Those two have no competition to steal their hype they simple are king at their respected genres.

Despite some rampant fanboyism this is an interesting thread. However I think Sony fans are putting too much empathize on 2008's line-up.

I'm not denying the PS3 has a great line-up, very arguable better than 360's or Wii's (although Wii in particular hasn't really been revealed yet and there's probably a lot of 360 we don't know yet either). However, assuming PS3 wins the best games in 2008 award, what then?

They are in solid last place now. Wii is dominating. Developers are shifting resources to the Wii where they can make more games quicker, cheaper and with a much larger base than the PS3 has (or 360 to a lesser extent).

Yes, a lot of AAA games will continue to be developed for the hardcore crowd buying 360/PS3 almost all multi-platform to defer the high costs. Buy how many? Will the PS3 (or 360) have many if any (non-first party) exclusives in 2009? Will there still be the volume of AAA games we are seeing this and next year or will Wii support drag that to a crawl?

Developers are making decisions for '09 and '10 games now, and if I was a developer, I sure as heck wouldn't invest 20+ mil on a PS3 exclusive game based on todays market. I might for the 360 if Microsoft coughs up the dough.

Just a couple months ago I firmly believed PS3 would win Japan (easy) and Europe, lose America but still finish 2nd by the end of the generation. May still happen, but based on what we know now, I for one wouldn't put any money on it.

Actually, GTA is coming to 360 with the exclusive downloadable content...so I don't see how that is not competition.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Hus dont bring your fanboyism in here, all consoles have proven IP that will push systems, again to say one will have a major boost and the others no boost, is just stupid.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

No I don't think the PS3 will ever pass the 360. As long as that price stays above $200 the majority of people won't buy it.
