Forums - Sony - How is Sony Doing This?(game announcement, after game announcement)

Why would anyone think that Sony wouldn't eventually hook us up nicely with many games? They have a long track record of delivering like this to their userbase.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

It was only a matter of time, that's why I bought a PS3, did everyone forget the games that were on the PS2? (not talking about 3rd party).

After 2 and half years developers are getting quite use to the PS3 so it should be less and less problematic to work on (wasn't the PS2 really hard to develope games for when it first came out aswell?)

The Cell and Blu-ray helps a lot

The userbase is much larger and obviously will keep growing, even at the price the PS3 is at it's still managing over 150,000 a week. Can you imaging what a $50 or even $100 price cut will do for sales?

Developers see the potential in the PS3 because of MGS4, Killzone 2, God of War III, Infamous, Heavy Rain etc.

Edit: And about the money issue, It's a huge multi-billion dollar company, you don't think they can throw away 10 - 15 million to make a game that will probably make then 20 - 30 million? Right now there making most of there money off the games, so it makes sense for them to get as much games out there as possible.

Dude on the fourth day Sony created PS3 from a rib of the PS2. It is going to own everyone. I am sure they have had money back logged and budgeted fro every year for the games to only to get bigger adn better. Wait until next year when it is full steam ahead like when the PS2 startd to rock them out!

@dbot

I totally agree. MS only cares about market share, that's why they are throwing away $millions (if not a $billion) by retailing the xbox360 so cheap.

If the x360 retailed for $10\£10\10 euros more than it's current price, the increased revenue generated would be huge, also I cannot see how a x360 that cost $10 more will have any affect on it's current sales. This alone makes nintendo's stragedy look genius.

OT: Look at the recent mult-plat software sales, RE5, Street Fighter etc, the market share advantage of the x360 doesn't seem to be paying off.

This is why 3rd party developers can look at PS3 with more confidence, and those that develop exclusives for the x360 can only wonder why with a 1/3 less marketshare than the x360 the PS3 is now selling as much 3rd party multi-plat software.

So much for ps3 3rd party support dying...

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

The 360's DVD format was only going to hold for so long before hitting a wall. PS3 is above 20m, developers can rest assured they'll get $ in return if they go exclusive. This is what I've said since I bought my PS3. 360's DVD format has very short legs, I've been usingmy PS3 for a year and a half and I expect to keep gaming on it for another 7 years or so. Wise investment. IMO.

Why do you think you know what your talking about? Wii and 360 both use the same DVD. Let's be blunt Wii success isn't DVD. Creativity isn't limited by space anymore. The only thing that BR is offering is superior textures, more movies, audio not more creative games.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

So not only is the Playstation 3 gonna get a lot of games, suddenly 3rd parties are going to abandon the 360?

I never thought 3rd parties would abandon the PS3 in favor of 360 exclusivity (not since Sony got the PS3 out of its initial disaster at least), but your claims are something else...

Why argue against an illogical statement with logical facts? The Sony fans are happy so let them have their fun. This is much better than them making hundreds of threads cursing out (insert developer name here) because they owe Sony something from the past two generations. Sony fans have developed a certain amount of pride from the Playstation brand winning the last two generations. They still think somehow the PS3 will magically boost in sales and come close to the Wii.
