Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Has Zelda franchise lost its way since Ocarina?

Of course not. Zeda still is the best franchise ever in history of videogames!

I loved the Wind Waker. It is without a doubt my favourite Zelda game ever.

well i haven't played MM. But WW, TP, and PH are great. Love em. So...NO

No, I wouldn't say so. I mean, I still like it quite a bit.

"I also found myself performing the same hand gestures throughout the game, which got old quickly."
That was pretty dumb. I found myself pressing the A button repeatedly throughout the game, which got old quickly.

I disagree with the article in general, but I agree somewhat about the unique addition to each game making them less enjoyable. I hated sailing, and being a wolf got boring fast. Just can't please everyone I guess.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

A Koopa's Revenge II gameplay video

Ocarina was good. Majora's was even better. Wind Waker was the worst 3D Zelda by miles (and not just because it wad cel shaded). TP was a return to form.

So, no, I don't think its lost its way. They just made one crappy game, that's all.
