VGchartz entire review system is bias and favors Nintendo and other Japanese games.

I would think that it's obvious...

You realize there's more than one of us. Right?

Yes sir.

On the other hand, you do realize that my criticism isn't directed toward any reviewer here, right?

The point of my previous was not that you were referring to one reviewer, it is that you were referring to a review "system" as if this somehow manages to encompass the tendencies of every reviewer. That's ludicrous.

I think you're missing my point, Khuutra.

I like the reviewer here. So much so, that I often ask through PM about certain games and it even impacts my purchase. My criticsims has nothing at all -- not a single thing -- to do with the people reviewing these games. I'm speaking out purely on how the scores for games are determined and how the sytem clearly favors Japanese genres. Even if I were reviewing games, I could think of many games that I thought deserved 9/10 that actually end up in the mid 80% range. This is because of how the scores are dictated.

To sum it up: The text part of the reviews are fine, it's the scoring system that needs work.

The... the scoring system favors Japanese games?

...Huh.

Okay, I'm going to put aside all presuppositions abou this for a second. I've been unable to see this kind of thing before.

How does that work?

I think he is saying that the value score is purely time/cost, which would always boost japanese games scores. However, I am under the impression that it value is not purely time/cost.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

The scoring system favors Japanese games because they don't get automatically docked a point for being Japanese like it's a common practice on most other gaming websites.

your answer is better.

i dont care for them i come here for the 360 HW and SW#s i dont care for reviews in general

i like some games that have low scores it all depends on the person i just hope the review feature doesnt get in the way of important things like news and #s

i also don't like sites with a lot of clutter i liked vgc more in its begin days

It favors them because there are only three categories that make up the games score; those three categories, however, are where Japanese games strengths are, and they have a clear advantage in two of the three categories (Presentation and Value). It's the same as if these categories were replaced with graphics, gameplay and online. Then there would be a clear bias towards western games and the situation would be reversed. There needs to be more things that go into these games scores.

I don't care about VG Chartz reviews either. I've said it before and I'm saying it again. For reasons unbenounced.

That could well be. But people that moan about reviews simply because they disagree, like coolestguy, simply don't understand what a review should be about.

Unfortunately there will always be people that like to bitch about anyting, but I tend to think most people like our reviews, at least as a feature of the site, and as VGC continues to grow people will have to accept that they're there.

Well don't get me wrong, I do bitch. But only if I have a reason. It's not the score, it's how it got that score.

Then there's the whole vgchartz favors reviewing wii games thing (which I'm not sure about):

about 25 wii games reviewed

about 26 DS games reviewed

about 8 WW

about 30 ps3?

about 21 psn?

about 5 psp games reviewed

21 X360

6 XBLA

I mean, all this disproves that notion.

I would however like to see some review % averages though.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Game's value is based upon the norms of the genre.  A 30 hour JRPG with no other replay value is not going to score more than a 10 hour FPS because the norms of the two genres are different.  Just the same way that JRPG's are not looked at for online multiplayer while FPS's are.

And I fail to see how Presentation is dominated by Japanese games, I'll have to admit you lost me on that one.

...

indeed they are, but people do realize that presentation is a conglomeration of visual (graphics both artistically and realism), audio (music, sound effects and voice over), as well as technical (bugs, framerate issues), right?

...

If you don't care about VG Chartz game ratings, why do you have to start a whole thread based on how you don't like their reviews? Fucking hell.
