Good question,the god of war franchise has sold 5million copies.

Warhawk I think might get some gamer's into online, Im not sure it will sell 1 million in its lifetime.

killzone franshise has already sold 2million copies

Motorstorm has sold 1 million

resistance getting close to 2 million

So to be certain those new ip's have been selling quite well, but dont match against mario for certain since its on every nintendo system, and genre. Motorstorm 2 is schedualed for release mid-late 2008.

A swing and a miss.  Pikmin is nothing like Pokemon, it's an RTS game... you haven't played it.  

Other new IPs published within the last generation:

Disaster, Endless Ocean, Wii series, ASH, Excite Truck, Custom Robo, Electroplankton, Elite Beat Agents, Hotel Dusk, Jet Impulse, Jump Stars (Japan only, but import it for DS, it's great), Magical Starsign, Magnetica, Mario & Luigi RPGs, Nintendo Magic, Planet Puzzle League, Picross DS, Polarium, Project Hacker, Super Princess Peach, Trace Memory, Wander Donkey.

All of those are published by Nintendo and all rights are reserved by Nintendo.  Thanks for playing the "Nintendo makes no new IPs" game though.

Err, the list is ok for the new Ip for the ps3, but dont include killzone etc, since it was on a console with 100 mil, and we are talking about new IP that will sell well on ps3 (i hope feel free to correct me)

Also god of war sold only 5 million? thats 5% attachment rate, i would of thought it sold more, same with killzone, hmmm. Whats the top selling GT 3? 11.5m?

 Resident Evil 4 will move PS3s I agree, hah j/k I know, typo.

 About Silent Hill, I'm a HUGE Silent Hill fan and all, but I don't think it's a system seller. Even that, I won't buy a PS3 to play it.

And to whoever said Pikmin = Pokemon... seriously, give me some of that pot...

Thats why I said franchise.

The differnece is that, the harcore nintendo fans bought the GC and that made new ip's sell, on the other hand only around 15 million of the huge 110miilion ps2 userbase is hardcore, this made sales for new ip's slightly lower than the GC.

The thing is... that doesn't matter that much.  The PS3 being so expensive.  Reason being, most people only buy 1 system.  The Wii right now is clearing out a large portion of the "Under $300"system people, as well as people above that who would just naturally perfer a wii, or would now thanks to the hype.

 By the time PS3 gets there a lot of the market who doesn't buy more then one system will be cleared out and the Wii and likely 360 Core if they keep it will be clearing out the "Under $200" market.

 By the time the PS3 gets to the real part of the buffet they may find it slim pickings.

I think working in an extra market will eventually help the PS3, because a lot more of the "artistic" JRPGs won't switch to the wii.  Ones like final fantasy that arn't so much about gameplay anymore as showing the creators "vision".

 Also i won't help marketshare at all since I will likely be buying all 3.  Or at the very least a Wii and PS3.
