I have an accessory/jewelry-making book, but the recipes do not show up when I use my forge.
Do I need a big person forge, instead of the two-ingredients-max one I bought from Lute?

| theRepublic said: Dammit Noname! This game sounds too interesting to pass up. It's going to have to go on the list. I was always interested in getting a Harvest Moon game, but for some reason, I never picked one up. This sounds like it has all of that and more. Hopefully in late May or June I'll have the time and money to start putting a real dent in my "To Buy" list. |
Mwahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Mmm, maybe. The crafting (accesories/gifts) table is separate from the forge proper. With the second level forge, there's a small, inconspicuous table that lets you make the crafts. I only found it by accident, so I can't say for sure that it's there with the starter forge. But look near your forge for a table that wasn't there before. Or at least a table that lets you do something with it. Hopefully it's already there.
Thank you noname, I will do that as soon as I have another opportunity to boot the game up, and let you know what I find.
Once I'm able to make my own armor, Hell will have come to the Green Ruins.
(up to now I'm still wearing those two pieces of crap from Danny's shop)
Turns out it was there, and I made armor with it! Not great armor, not yet.... but soon enough.
Also I fought the boss of Green Ruins, which was, truth be told, way too powerful for me. I only managed to kill it by luring it into doing its charges and then hitting it with two Special Attacks from - I think it was my Iron Hammer, but it may have been my Battle Axe. The boss seemed weak to the attack, in either case, as it did very high damage.
I only came through with a sliver of RP left. Damn near didn't make it.
I want to clear my field but I just don't have the stamina to do so. It takes nearly an entire bar of RP just to clear out two or three stumps, much less till the land left behind. Is there a way to increase RP? If not, is there a way to more quickly decrease my RP consumption?
Also, does the strength of an axe affect how long it takes to chop down? Do stumps have invisible HP meters?

RP never goes up, but increasing the level of your tools reduces RP consumption. So too does increasing your level with that tool (i.e. keep using it, and it'll get better). Strength means nothing: all that matters is the SP level of your tool.

Argh! Okay, so upgrading my tools at the forge will increase their SP level, right? Is that referring to their level when they're forged (I only have one level 2 tool and that's my Tomahawk) or the required skill for making it?
I have a battle plan - it occurs to me that the most important resource in the game is still money. I'm going to use the shortcut system in the Green Ruins to keep five constant plots of the most valuable spring crops growing constantly (I don't know what these are, yet, but potatoes are nice). I'll use my farm mostly for growing fodder, and then use my monsters to help me clear the field over time.
Just need to figure out which ones are best for what.
Also I think I saw a cow in the Green Ruins, what the Hell!?

It refers to the type of tool. Axes give the clearest example: the Cheap Axe has an SP level of 0, and can't break stumps (or do special attacks). The iron axe has an SP level of 1, and by holding B you can do a special attack that destroys a stump in 6 hits. The silver axe has an SP level of 2, and can destory a stump in three hits, etc.
Basically, you need the next axe.
Turnips are actually your best bet, especially at this stage: 10 GP for a bag of seeds, 270 or so GP per turnip, only five days turnaround time.
And yes, Bessie is on the lowest level of the Green Ruins. Had you recruited one, it would have destroyed the Cockatrice for you...the first time.
What is with the excessive amount of loading in this game? Reminds me of an early ps2 game in this regard. I don't mind some loading, but considering how small each area is, the loading is kinda frustrating at times. Other than that i'm enjoying myself.

All right. But to reduce my RP usage I need a higher tool level, not SP level - and that's determined by the level of my lowest-leveled ingredient. So when you get down to it, I need higher quality ore. The only question is where do I get that?
I now have a chicken, a slime, a Bellsprout-looking thing, a sheep, a cow, and a mini mage. I'll be taking the cow into battle. The slime and mini mage will be doing field cleanup.
Is there any reason to ever take monsters off their jobs?
Edit: And Turnips? Well, all right...

Agreed. I amuse myself with the loading screen's mini-game, which is oddly hypnotic, but there are still far too many of them.

Use your hammer's special attack on rocks to possibly get higher level ores, or even gems. The only reason to take a monster off its job is to take it on a walk, which, under the right circumstances, can increase its FP. And yes, turnips.
