i think, its matter of time.
if you see the ps2 sales and the ps3 sales are the same in the same period of time.
give it time

wow, you are delusional. I can't believe there are still people on this forum that think PS2 and PS3 are on the same track.

It's the whole "Ignorance is Bliss" thing.

On topic, I don't think it's an issue. It's more of an issue that the people who don't own a PS3 haven't found a reason to get one yet.

Oh my. ioi can we build a FAQ page and list this as one of the first faqs. It is really annoying that so many new site members make this same incorrect statement.

katsuraji, at this time PS2 was the only one on the market and only available in Japan. That means in first months of PS2's life it was only available in one region, NOT worldwide. If we compare that to PS3's japan region you will notice that it is doing significantly worse than the PS2. In fact the only console to do do the same or better is the Wii. Below is each region compared, if you sum it up you will see what I mean.

OT: No. I think the PS3 is doing poorly because the price and few games. The price is making it a hardcore only purchase, and those people are by far the minority. Those people alse are the ones who usually by alot of games and are generally multi-console owners.

I have all three systems and I just think that Sony had and still has the worst execution of the big three. In addition any opportunity for free PR was marred by promises they couldn't keep. In the end, the system that was supposed to be much more powerful then the 360, is having trouble doing just basic tasks. I am shocked at how poor the menu system is vs XBL. It just seems to me every step of the way Nintendo and M$ are ahead.

The bigger problem is that developers are realizing that;
1. The PS3 is hard to develop for and doesn't have great dev support from Sony.
2. The PS3 is less profitable then the other consoles because they don't have a great userbase.
3. Even if they optimize the code for the PS3's SPU's, the Xbox 360 will always have better graphics because M$ chose a better GPU.
4. Problems 1, 2 and 3 make for fewer games and upset gamers.

I'm actually thinking that if PS3 fanboys tried a 360 for a day, they wouldn't give it back. Its a better console and its cheaper. Thats why the PS3 should be everyones 3rd next gen console.

I own the PS3, 360 and WII, and the one getting dusty is the PS3

Please feel free to ad me any time, just let me know.

The ps3's only problem which is why its selling as well as the 360 right now is becuase of the price.

I have two "good" friends that own a PS3 - both are hard-core gamers, and own all three systems.

One of the guys at my work though is a huge Playstation fan - he only owns a PS3, nothing else.

I own a Wii but will be getting a PS3 shortly, so you can consider me a next gen multiconsole owner. The PS3 is at a price point where it's a large investment, but might not have the games to justify the price, so it's often a pair to something like the Wii (most commonly).

The reason the PS2 was so successful was because it could sell to those who could only afford one system. Poor families in all kinds of different countries could only get one console, and the PS2 has all kinds of games, especially for kids.

If the PS3 can emulate the PS2 like that, it will have this generation by its haunches.

Only a PS3. But maybe i'll get a Wii...

Based on my friends ALL that have a ps3 have all three systems.  Do people think this is widespread or isolated?  How many PS3 owners here in the forum have all three systems or just the PS3?  Main reason I bring this up as being an issue is because the PS3 is not really gaining much ground in terms of hardware on the Wii or 360 if most or a good portion have all three systems anyways.

I have one friend who has all three.  He's the only one I know with a PS3 he stood outside for one on launch day, took photos with his PS3 right otuside of the store.  Well he has a PS3&Wii and his friend has a 360.  He doesn't play the PS3 I think the multiplatform buys seem to go 360's way.  He isn't regretting it though, i mean he'd probably of rather waited till Final Fantasy,  but it'll be coming eventually.

I have one friend with a PS3 and he has all three as well. I have another who has a Wii and is saving for one. I had never really considered the possibility that a lot of people who owned one were multi-system owners, but reading through the responses it seems you are onto something.
