Um, because Wii and DS ALSO have great games? The DS has got to have the best gaming library since the SNES.

1. Because Nintendo appeals to lots of gamers more so than the other two consoles.

2. Because there are clearly more casual gamers than hardcore gamers. The HD systems would be the obvious choice for those concerned almost entirely with hardcore games. The Wii has some hardcore games (and more coming) but so many casual and party games (as bad as some of them might be) to appeal to families and a lot more people in general.

The Wii sells more consoles than the PS360 because:

1. It launched at a better price

2. It is the party game system (This is the only system that you'll find whole families buying multiples of)

3. Has a 50: 50 male/ female ratio.

4. Anyone can play it. (All age demographics)

5. The controller is a nearly universal product as opposed to HD consoles.

6. It completely focused on the casual market and non-gamer market (which is a totally new market to the industry thanks to Nintendo).

The Wii represents next gen.

DS beats PSP because:

1.The DS has more variety and genres in games

2. The DS has a 50:50 male/female ratio.

3. Is more versatile with uses.

I have a friend who doesn't play videogames very much but tries to keep himself up to date. He loves the DS so much he sold his 360 and PS3, because he had no use for them. Well thats him, but this should give a certain perspective on the reasoning.

Nintendo's R&D. No, they aren't spending all those hundreds of millions on gaming hardware and software research. They're spending it to launch orbital mind control laser satellites into space.

How else to explain why tens of millions of people are buying and playing games with a metascore of 80 or even lower? It's a scientific fact that all of these people would have more fun playing GTA IV or Gears of War, but the lasers are telling them that they want Mario Kart Wii.
