Forums - Gaming - NCSoft: "Pc gamers will transition to the ps3"

http://www.psu.com/NCsoft-says-PC-gamers-will-transition-to-PS3-News--a0001127-p0.php

"I think there is a difference between PC and console players but there's overlap as well," said Heath, in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz. "Our view long term is that people who have traditionally only played on PC will actually now start transitioning to PS3. Once they figure out what PS3 does, I think that take-up will get greater and greater."

Very interesting.

The PS3 has got MMOs and Shooters, but what about us poor RTS lovers?

NCSoft doing "exclusives" for the PS3/PC said this? Sky must still be blue.

At the current pace its more likely that PS3 users will become PC users... seriously gamers have already seen great games on the consoles since the PS1. If they still havent switched entirely then they never will and of all the consoles to switch to the PS3 is the least likely candidate. The Wii is the most different (compared to PCs) so that would be the most logical choice since PC's already have similar games to those the consoles offer (except for the Wii and its price is attractive).

Good luck with that.

We should all recognise that it was their original plan.
I mean, two years ago I seriously thought PS3 might now be on its way to destroying the PC. A super computer with a bluray drive and all the other necessary gibbens for a knockdown price running multiple OSes? The entire Playstation library, branding and a unified software base? IBM on board as key purveyors of the hardware standards? Count me in I said.
Sad huh.

Seeing the shrinking size of the game sections at stores and the increase in numbers of people buying laptops, which are usually poor gaming machines and difficult to upgrade to keep them capable of playing the latest games, that PC gamers have been migrating to consoles for a while, I count myself as one of them. I think it has nothing to do with the PS3 but with what a pain it is to keep a PC ready for gaming with the endless patches, driver updates, and annoying tweaks. The only real advantage to a PC is if you want to run games out at the limits of graphics or you like mods for your games but I doubt that is a big audience. I guess there might also be a need for PC gaming if your a big strategy gamer, I doubt grognards are going to find much to their liking on consoles.

What does the PS3 that a PC can't do?
