This thread is waaaaaay too optimistic regarding ps3 sales

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Sorry but the number's speak for themself, this is Final Fantasy were talking about here...FINAL FANTASY in Japan (that's not a spin off game). The PS3 should be CLOSE to 4 million by the time it's released, even if it was at 3.5 million it'd still easily sell 1 million first week, no problem.

That would assume that every FF owner owns a PS3, or will buy one upon FFXIII's release. That's not really how things work, though. When it comes down to it, I can see it topping out at 1.5 million in the long run, but I cannot see the kind of ridiculous attach rate you're expecting. FF or not, things change. Japan has taken to portables in a big way, and have shunned the HD systems largely. Combined with the "casualization" of Japan, I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of previous Final Fantasy owners don't show up for this installment.
20 mil in this year??? not impossible but my bet points to 14 mil

Most Final Fantasy fans will buy a PS3 for FFXIII, like I said in that thread, I expect around 150K PS3's sold first week and that's without a price cut. And games like Yakuza 3 and Resident evil 5 is proof enough that Final Fantasy will do very well on the PS3 in Japan, the Japanese seem to be very loyal to these main games. Even if Japan prefers portables I can garuntee you they would prefer to see a FFXIII game on a HD console then a portable. I stand by my prediction of 1.6 - 1.9 million first week, the Japanese will always be the same when it comes to a main Final Fantasy game being released.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
— Pat Buchanan – A Republic, Not an Empire
I'm not sure why you thought it'd be ok to mercilessly mock another user like this, banned or not.
Besides, you should really be comparing PS3 2009 to PS2 2002 now, right? ;>
