Forums - Sales - Sales numbers for the PS3 in America seem a little low this week.

Sales numbers for the PS3 seem a little low this week. Going by the sales data, Killzone 2 sold twice as many copies as did the Wii this week (I am boycotting calling Wii Sports the second best selling game as it largely gets those numbers because it is in the Wii's box.) And Killzone 2 sold close to four times as many copies as the best selling 360 game. Yet, the PS3 is listed as selling 10,000 fewer units than the 360 for the week. I don't believe that Killzone 2 only sold so well to just those people that already had a PS3 while resulting in the sale of very few new PS3s. And my gut feeling is that actual PS3 sales for the week were actually in the 80,000 to 120,000 range.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

why don't we wait for the NPD numbers then to clear things up.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

I'd say it's perfectly reasonable that the game mostly sold to existing PS3 owners. I have no reason to believe otherwise. Obviously a couple people picked up the console to play Killzone 2, but the majority of people already owned the system.

sold to existing PS3 owners

COd 4 sold 4 million on Ps3

so it has a huge FPS fanbase

Shooting games are pretty well established on the PS3 already so I'm not so surprised that hardware hasn't seen a huge jump.

what's funny is that alot of those 360 fanboys like 75 ce...50 Cent.

Was this necessary?

On to the topic, if you have a problem with VGchartz, just complain when the NPD numbers come in. Just don't be surprised when NPD sales shows a lower number, like they did with all games and consoles in december. (Yes this takes into account the 90% rule for America, honest to god it should be 85% rule.)

Everything seems low this week.

I dont why people were expectinb KZ2 to increase hardware, Sony needs a game that will appeal to Japan(especially here),NA, and EU like a RPG now that would move Hardware
