By the way guys in my OP I meant to say Halo 3, not Halo. I was trying to stick with games from this gen. It seems like many feel that single player experiances have suffered due to Online this gen. Or at least that's how I take it. It might just be fanboys hating on games that are on the other system which is why COD doesn't suffer this hate because it's multiplat. I think more then anything what people consider mediocre about these single player experiances this generation is that the storys are either non existant or poor. For instance I've enjoyed both Killzone 2 and Resistance 2's single player experiances, although resistance 2 less so, but I realised that the story in both of these games are very poor. Almost non existant in each except for some intel in R2. All of the games that are considered to have very strong single player are heavily story driven I believe. So do gamers want more story in their FPS's? I think that would be great. I don't want MGS4, but I don't see why we can't get a good story like Half-Life and a great multiplayer.

I thought Red Steel had a pretty cool single player mode. The levels weren't all the same thing, and they were pretty unique imo.

 So? What's so bad about Treyarch? I know most of their games are pretty mediocre but I loved Spider-man 2 and COD:WAW had a good single player despite the awful gernade spamming on veteran.

I haven't played Crysis yet, but Crysis Warhead is pretty awesome, and it doesn't even need infinite korean soldiers to succeed.

 I actually haven't played that because I heard so many complaints about it being mediocre too. Either way, I'm very much looking forward to The Conduit. I've been wanting to get a wii FPS.

Nah Treyarch is not bad, but in comparison with Infinity Ward they can't deliver a true Call of Duty game. They're trying to copy them, but we all know that the original will always be better than a copy. However Big Red One was okay but IMO in the same boat as CoD3. WaW is much better though.

Don't just games single player against Halo:CE... especially not the Silent Cartographer. It's just not fair. Give them a chance.

I don't think we'll see another FPS single player that will be as striking as playing Halo:CE back in the day. It was a bold leap into the future of gaming... and was an amazing and engrossing story and experience to boot. I feel like even if a game was the most advanced new FPS out there (KZ2) and had an amazing story... it still wouldn't be able to hit the high that Halo:CE did back then.
