While I think the campaign in Killzone 2 is actually pretty good, how about Resistance:FOM, I thought it had both a good SP campaign and MP. I also liked RSV2, COD4 and Halo:CE

Edit:  And Call of Duty 2:Big Red One(PS2) & Call of Duty 2 (360)

You basically just said that Treyarch made a good game *oh noes*

So? What's so bad about Treyarch? I know most of their games are pretty mediocre but I loved Spider-man 2 and COD:WAW had a good single player despite the awful gernade spamming on veteran.

Nah Treyarch is not bad, but in comparison with Infinity Ward they can't deliver a true Call of Duty game. They're trying to copy them, but we all know that the original will always be better than a copy. However Big Red One was okay but IMO in the same boat as CoD3. WaW is much better though.

And yes I'm playing WaW on veteran RIGHT NOW !!!

Good luck. Really, in the later levels it takes luck, not skill. You either get 6 gernades around you where you can't possibly escape, or you don't but it will usually be the option that ends with you being dead.

I agree with your first statement though. But that's hardly fair, I don't think you could give the COD franchise to Bungie and expect them to do as good a job as Infinity Ward can. COD is their game, and you can tell.

Even if no FPS's had decent SP I don't think that's what the developers are making games for , mainly because it's not what the consumer seems to be after.

From personal exeprience no artificial intelligence could replicate the thrill of killing some one in MP , there's a higher level of competition , excitement , emotion etc.

I find things rather opposite, most FPS games I play have good SP campaigns and boring or uninspired MP.

By the way guys in my OP I meant to say Halo 3, not Halo. I was trying to stick with games from this gen. It seems like many feel that single player experiances have suffered due to Online this gen. Or at least that's how I take it. It might just be fanboys hating on games that are on the other system which is why COD doesn't suffer this hate because it's multiplat. I think more then anything what people consider mediocre about these single player experiances this generation is that the storys are either non existant or poor. For instance I've enjoyed both Killzone 2 and Resistance 2's single player experiances, although resistance 2 less so, but I realised that the story in both of these games are very poor. Almost non existant in each except for some intel in R2. All of the games that are considered to have very strong single player are heavily story driven I believe. So do gamers want more story in their FPS's? I think that would be great. I don't want MGS4, but I don't see why we can't get a good story like Half-Life and a great multiplayer.

Yes.  I read an article albeit, one that is hard to find, that says that a lot gamers these days consider story to be a crucial element in video games.  MGS4 may have great gameplay but a lot of people seem to mainly play that game for the story and characters.  Same thing with anything called Final Fantasy.

I would say Half Life 2 and CoD 4, Perfect Dark.

Every other FPs i have played (including Halo 1-3, Gears 1/2, CoD 1-3, Resistance 1/2, etc.) have had abysmal single player games.

Halo 1 had a ton of potential for a great single player, unfortunately none of it was used.

Deus Ex. Even if a lot of people says, that it isn´t pure FPS.

Halo CE, single player was and still is the best of any console FPS!

Halo CE was subpar single player.  Actually it was subpar multiplayer too, but that's a whole different story.

The game might've been decent if it were trimmed down to 2 hours, but as it stands, it's just too damn repetetive.

Duke Nukem 3D, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Metroid Prime, No One Lives Forever 1 & 2, Rainbow Six: Vegas and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect say hi.

Team Fortress 2.
