Lost Planet 2 Confirmed as Xbox360 Exclusive

http://www.electronictheatre.co.uk/articles/archive/2009/lost-planet-2-confirmed-xbox360-exclusive-04230209/

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of videogames, today announced that Lost Planet 2 is being developed for the Xbox360, following an exclusive announcement on XboxLIVE! that happened Monday, February 23. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, the landmark third-person shooter that debuted on Xbox360, went on to sell over 2.2 million units worldwide after its release. This next riveting instalment will offer deeper insight into the world of E.D.N III and the uncertain fate of future mankind.

Lost Planet 2 picks up 10 years since the events of the original adventure and the landscape has evolved dramatically. With the success of terraforming activities, the planet’s ice has begun to melt, giving way to lush tropical jungles and other new environments. The story has advanced beyond Wayne Holden as players will now follow the exploits of their own customized snow pirates on their quest to seize control of E.D.N III. Players will move their heroes through different stories creating a truly unique and interactive experience. With this concept, gamers will have the opportunity to engage in the story in a more dynamic way as plot threads evolve from various perspectives.

The strongest features from the first game will return in Lost Planet 2 making fans feel right at home. In addition to the anchor actions that made the gameplay in Lost Planet a true 3-D experience, Lost Planet 2 allows gamers to gain tactical advantage with a wide variety of new actions. The game will also contain a new addition to the enormous Akrids which were a fan-favourite in the first Lost Planet.

Capcom has spent a considerable amount of time reviewing community feedback and incorporating it into Lost Planet 2 creating a game that both new and returning fans to the series will love. The game takes advantage of Capcom’s most highly advanced software development tool, the MT Framework 2. This is the first game to make use of the new technology that builds on the advancements made in the original MT Framework.

Beyond the deep single player mode, Lost Planet 2 is loaded with one the most extensive multiplayer campaign seen in a shooter to date. The intense and action packed campaign mode comes with the ability to form teams of up to 4 players online to clear mission objectives with friends.

Whether or not any further formats will follow (as both the PC and PLAYSTATION3 versions of the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition did) remains to be seen. But for now, this one is chalked up for the Xbox360 crowd.

Bugger. Oh well don't even know what lost planet is :P

sheesh...when will they learn that massively staggered release dates lead to less sales on the later systems?
Maybe they just want to get the 360 version out first though because...well...they'd be finished with it first and porting takes time.
Games finished but just sitting around and waiting for release are just wasting money i suppose.
Game sounds pretty interesting though!

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

there was no confirmation in that post and capcom hasn't spoken about the game officially yet.it's tomorrow.

notice the article doesn't have any official source.

ElectronicTheatre have been completely wrong before, claiming things to have been officially announced when nothing has been said (e.g. gave incorrect date to LBP rescheduled launch).

That said, even if true, it'll probably find its way across.

Capcom is very bad company!!
They said that they no more make exclusive game and go to multiplatporm and now they announce on Lost Planet 2 to exclusive xbox360.

LOL I hope they make this exclusive to 360 then make DMC 5 as ps3 exclusive.

I'll wait for something official from capcom.

Waiting On GT7!!!

MONEYHATS!

But in all seriousness that is a very weird decision from a company which is pro multi-platform. Am sure this has to do with Japanese devs being under the impression that PS3 games do not sell at all in the west but they would have got at least a few more sales.

The first was a late port and that was a train wreck, looks like it is time again for another.

Edit - Not even confirmed, I call shananagens!

Yeah, me too. They ported Lost Planet to the PS3, but won't bring the sequel there? On the other hand, PS3 hasn't seen the original Dead Rising (yet) but will get Dead Rising 2? Makes zero sense to me.
