how come the biggest news isn't in the heading. hannah montana bundle in lilac color!!!

Damn I'm most excited for Motorstorm!

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

I might sound fanboyish here, but the only good things to come out of that press release for PSP owners and Sony fanboys is AC PSP and LBP PSP. Why?

Well, a lilac PSP to attract female gamers is a joke. This is a clear indication of Sony being unable to understand why the DS Lite is popular with females and why the PS2 is popular with females. It's not the fact that both of those consoles comes in pink, it's that both of those consoles provide games that anybody can play without making them feel like retards (without them wanting to of course).

The difference between the PS2 (and PSP) and the DS Lite is, is that the DS Lite can fit in most pockets. So Sony's bringing out a PSP coloured towards females, but without software tailored towards them (for each patapon on the PSP, there's about 20 DS lite games of the same quality and female friendly) and with a piece of hardware (psp) thats not designed for as much wear and tear as the DS lite (PSP screen constantly being exposed). I'm not saying females aren't careful, I'm saying they're not as careful with these things as the "gamer".

No need to mention hannah monatana, so Rock band PSP is the next problem. Guitar Hero DS is great, but barely so, seeing as how most people who play it do so with headphones (to avoid looking retarded) and the peripheral isn't massive. PSP doesn't have a Slot 2 for that sort of instrument peripheral, so it'll have to be a mini guitar connected to the console and would anyone really want that when the PS2's been offering it for the last 5 years?

Great news with AC PSP and LBP though, I think that AC won't be the same as the home console versions, probably a much more prettier DS version, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Also, I think they're selling 2008's lineup a bit short by calling 2009's the breakout year for the PSP, I'm fairly certain 08's lineup was a lot better.

The lilac psp though suspect does actually look nice however, bring on MS:AE :D

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Great News! PSP is a wonderful device that deserve much greater software support especially from Sony and Western Devs, i hope they cansomehow restore better SW sales in the west, by increasing First party support (and Motorstorm/LBP are a great restart for Sony on PSP). Its still a good piece of hardware so good news that PSP is still very much alvie.

@Calamity

As someone who works in retail, I think you are wrong. I am not saying that color scheme is the only factor, but it is a deciding factor. I cannot tell you how many times people come in looking for a handheld system for a girl. The fact that the DS comes in a wide assortment of colors attracts a lot of people. Geuss which color is the highest selling of all the DSs at a 60% margin? THe Pink ones of course. Everyone wants a pink DS because they think it screams I am for a girl more so then a "manly" black PSP does.

Most people make system purchases before even knowing what games they offer. The system's visual appeal is very important.
