Forums - Gaming - For those who have played both Burnout Revenge & Paradise?

Burnout Revenge makes Paradise look like complete shit, to be frank. I could not get into it at all. Open world really does not work. It was nothing beyond "drive here, do this race, now do this race, now this race, now this SPECIAL event, now these seventeen billion races"

I hope Burnout 6 is a return to the series' roots. I would get it, then.

Did I mention you have to pay for offline multiplayer? What the hell, seriously?

I strongly advise you avoid this one.

Only thing I can't stand about Paradise is the camera.

It is just far too low, both in-car and out.

God Damn! I'm not the only person on earth stretching his neck to see in front of the bloody car. No one else in Criterion didn't notice that?

@OP

TAKEDOWN for the win. 2 times better than Revenge and uncomparable to tha lame Paradise City

paradise is very very good.

theres lots to do and explore in the game, online is also superb especially the team challenges.

1 big big draw back on paradise is if you fail a race you cant restart it.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

@seekuk

they new patch fixed that problem.you can restart the event now(or so i ve heard )

Takedown was definitely the pinnacle of the burnout series. Paradise is OK but navigation while avoiding traffic hampers the game badly

 assumption is the mother of all f**k ups

most of this thread seems against me but ill post i loved the series prior to revenge... but revenge just took so long to do anything, and its convoluded UI pissed me off so much that i went back to playing burnout III takedown.

I have enjoyed paradice city far more then the other games, ive gotten much further more quickly in standard race mode. and enjoy just driving around having fun in this game looking for new things to do. the takedown mode in this game is awsome, though cheap sometimes, but that has always been a burn out trait.

the omission of local multiplayer was a major blow. and most people are right, the crash mode is subpar compared to previous entries (I am still putting III as the best)

I give it a marked improvement over revenge in replay ability and a marked improvement in developer support.

At bolded: How exactly is that different than the other five previous Burnout games? I'm pretty sure in those games I also did this race and then that race, then this special event and then seventeen billion races.

The difference is in Paradise you drive to the start, then that annoying voice tells you to drive to the other side of the map. After you've finished the race (victorious or not) you need to search the next race, which leads you most of the time once again across the whole map.
I prefer to select a race from a menu and even better, when they give me more variety (tracks in different cities, Circuit races etc.)

A really big part of the action and the fun is gone because of the open world setting. It's boring when you're in first place and take a different route than the AI. You can't takedown anyone, you always need to look at the map and the boost duration decreases very fast.
