oooo....an interesting debate. I would contend that a drag queen has an inherent advantage that makes their inclusion into a female sporting event unfair, but that there is no such advantage for a drag queen in a Homecoming Queen contest.
|
What is that inherent advantage?
For example... what if said Drag Queen is 4 foot 9? Yet worked hard and is good enough to make it into the WNBA?
Setting up a exlusions only to keep out those who are deemed superior for ruining things for those who are deemed inferior is a poor way to run something... and insulting.
Do some of the WNBAs greatest basketball players really have an inherent disadvantage vs a 4'9 drag queen?
|
Then they should set up a basketball association for short people. WNBA players do have an inherent physical disadvantage to males in general as far as playing basketball goes and as such males are not allowed, shortness is a seperate physical disadvantage in basketball.

And after that we should set up a basketball assosiation for uncoordinated people?
Having any sort of discrimination based on such issues is a bad idea.
How about... a scholarship program created to be awarded to women? Decided via essay about what it is like to be a woman in todays world.
Should a man be able to apply? He does definitly have a disadvantage when it comes to the subject matter... and more college students and graduates are women.
A "disadvantage" standard is unfair and untennable in my mind.
I think you need to either take away all barriers that judge people soley on their sex or continue being sexist.
The average woman is born weaker then the average man. This only matters when you judge people as two groups. Man and Woman.
If Man was ALWAYS stronger the Woman. Then you would have a point. However this is not the case.
