i just cant see a 360 gamer buying the "other" console to play GT5.
FORZA series is a great alternative, and for many people (including me ) a better simulator from Grant Turismo...

Many people still do not own a console, 360 owners do not have to buy a PS3 so GT5 sells well. Nice to see you like Forza more than GT and people agree with out, thing is that for everyone who does agree with you ___ people disagree. We will see what that number is when both games increase.

Forza 3 is going to have to be something special to outshine GT5. I seriously doubt Turn 10 have the budget PD do or the manpower, also the time so things not looking too bright.......

Also tyrannical have a look at GT5: Prologue sales and you will see they are pretty darn good. Then have a look at what previous prologues have sold compared to the full game and you will have a mind fuck. "Real fans" does not mean there stupid enough to fork out £25 for what is essentially a beta you are paying for.

I don't care what people want to think of me Forza 2 sales were inflated dramatically just as Motorstorm was. People thought Motorstorm 2 would seel just as well as the original and they were wrong. Just because a game has high sales bundled does not mean it automatically gains a fan base.

Uncharted 2 won't sell as well as Uncharted did unless it is bundled.

I stand by my prediction.

You realise that Uncharted has barely been bundled, it was bundled in some versions across the holiday season, it had already reached 2m. I don't think the same can be said about forza

I know. I absolutely love Uncharted and it deserves its sales besides it is a part of a 500 dollar bundle so every sale should count at that price.

Budget doesn't matter here... Turn 10 has one advantage they have never had before. They get to sell their game on a system with much larger sales in the western world. Furthermore if a combination of gameplay and marketing clicks with people they could pull in some pretty big numbers for sales.

Tease.

I think alot depends on how good GT5 actually is, if it is like Pro-logue then i think it will suck.

Forza however is a series that is doing very well critics wise.

Gran Turismo has fallen by the way side in recent years, as a racing nut i think they have struggled to get to the heights of GT3: A-Spec, that game was amazing. But since then they have not got a game into the 90% score range. The last GT game that got over 90% was in 2001, almost a decade ago.

My predictions:

Forza Motorsports 3:
NA/US: 1.7m
PAL: 2.0m
JP: 100k

Total: 3.8m

Gran Turismo 5:
NA/US: 2.5m
PAL: 4.5m
JP: 1m

8m or a little less.

FYI: Forza 2 sold 2.5 million units without bundling. I proved it in the other Forza thread, and can easily do that here.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

You forgot the Uncharted bundle [AKA Starter Pack (which does not necessarily include Uncharted)]. It was released in February 2008, where Uncharted's sales were about 1.1m. The bundle was pretty famous in Europe. Of course it was no where near the amount of Forza 2 bundles and we don't know how many people in fact chose Uncharted, but I guess you cannot call it "barely bundled".

I retract my earlier prediction. I forgot just how huge GT was for a minute. I didn't know the userbase on PS2 was that small when GT3 was released.

My new prediction is 12 million, just under half of the userbase will own GT5 when its out. Its massive in PAL and Japan, and big in America.

Did you know how big the userbase was when GT4 released? around 80 million.

so if userbase of 80million allowed sales of near 10 million copies of gt4.

that would mean now on ps3 with its userbase gt5 will sell 2.5million?

gran turismo 3 released when ps2 was at about 15 million consoles, vg has gt3 at 14 million.

gt5 will be one of the best games this gen, it will sell huge, the gt5 prologue has sold more than the gt4 prolugue and thats of a far lower install base.

i see no reason why gt5 cant sell more than gt4
