Forums - Sony - Sixaxis a mistake?

I'm saying that the way the motion control for the Sixaxis, and subsequently DS3, are incorporated is gimicky. This is probably because it is a "half assed" attempt, and isn't able to be as good as the Wii's motion control. They should of either really invested in it to the point that it was near or equal to the Wii's motion control, or not done it at all.

However on the flip side, you could argue that its not Sony's fault that developers, especially for multiplatform games, are lazy. Warhawk was said to have good motion controls, I like how I can use it in LBP for the head and body, and I really dig the sniper thing in KZ2. However even with those examples, were the investments worth it?

Should Sony continue their use of motion control in PS4, enhancing it to the point that it's as good as the Wii's?

I think it was a mistake. It was just another attempt to one up Nintendo and it was really quite pointless. I forget that it's even there since almost no games use it and when a game does use it I lament it and turn the motion control off if it's an option.

The wii is built around it and when it does it right it does it incredibly well, but with the sixaxis there just isn't any reason for it to be there.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Folklore, that game imo was made perfectly for tradition controls with motion controls. If it hasn't been for the whole repeat the same bit twice it'd have been a great game.

Other then that I've not been impressed with motion control on both consoles tbh.

LAIR (you said meaningful not great), Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone 2, NBA 2K8, MLB 08 The Show.

I dunno.  I mean lost Kingdoms did a good job with the "Pokemon ball" type scenario when it came to capturing. (Lost Kingdoms being what Folklore ripped off.)

NBA 2K8?

I don't remember motion controls in NBA 2K8.....

pretty much something added quickly to look cool but failed

The sixaxis is great when used right. Everyone who thinks otherwise are the true ones who fail. Heavenly sword and flower are two great examples of it. When trying to tack it on though, it's usage seems bad. People failed to realise that it wasn't trying to replace the controller but add on to the current experience of playing games.

Check out my game about moles ^

Flower alone justifies sixaxis.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I didn't say motion controls are a gimmick, I called the SIXAXIS a gimmick (among other things).
