Sigh...another flop RPG for 360? I was hoping this would top Lost Odyssey.

Whatever I'm still buying it.

Well are Jrpgs been affected by the new "we want to appeal western audicene" trend??

Is that whats making them .... suck?

LOL at the Selnor worriers. Any JRPG fan doesnt use reviews from normal sites.

Specialist sites like RPGfan are the sites I'll be listening to. Would you like to know why?

FF12 was a 6 at best for me. What do you think Game Informer gave it....

Are you calling JRPG fans retarded? The "real" gaming sites are the only ones I trust for JRPG reviews, Famitsu live by moneyhats and hype but Dengeki are very good.

I use normal sites fine for pretty much every other genre. But JRPG's are a taste which many reviewers in the mainstream dont have. I wouldnt use for instance IGN or Gamespot for JRPG reviews if someone paid me.

But specialist sites like RPGgamer and RPGfan are reviewed by people who live and breath RPG's. RPG's need to be reviewed by people who obsess with them. They arent scared to say which FF games for instance are plain crap. The mainstream are bombarded with FF this and FF that. Honestly there is so much more to RPG gaming than FF.

IMO after 12 attempts it goes like this.

FF6 = 10/10  11/10

FF7  FF2  FF9 = 9/10

FF8 = 8/10

FF1  FF3  FF10 = 7/10  FFX - 8.5/10

FF4  FF12 = 6/10  FFIV - 7/10  FFXII - 1/10

FF 5 = 4/10

FF11 = 3/10. 1/10

Bold is where I wanted to fix.

Well, they have either flopped in sales or more importantly (for gamers anyways) it has flopped in terms of gameplay and/or story.

They seem to forget that they are called "Japanese" Role Playing Games for a reason. Not "Western" Role Playing Games.

This gen is slowly but surely destroying everything I have come to know and love in terms of gaming, more specifically the RPG department.

The problem is that jRPG fans seem to be happy with little innovation, whereas most reviews aren't so much. I am sort of in the middle, but so far I haven't played many jRPGs, and my personal opinions of those are mostly in line with reviewers, so I am slightly worried about this 7, but hopefully it will get better reviews. An average of 7/10 would mean that I leave the game until June, instead of getting it in May as I have exams then, and unless it is great, I'll wait for it

For comparison's sake, Joe and Andrew both gave Infinite Undiscovery an 8.

I have to be honest and say DQ and FF are my top JRPG, growing in Tokyo those are the only 2 JRPG I bothered to play and same goes for my friends back there. KH was pretty good, TO games were meh and still are meh but I have been hyped for FFXIII, Versus, Agito and DQ IX since they were announced and no doubt will have to be the games which set the bar this generation for JRPG.

DQ IX releases this year which means FFXII will not make it in Japan until at least march 2010, goodness knows when EU and NA gamers will finally get to play the game. :/ Versus probably 2011 then and DQ X 2012...........WOW that is bad.

So it will have taken 4 years for the first great JRPG to releases this gen which makes me very very sad. :(

You never played Persona 3 FES or 4?

Who cares about the score? I know I love the Star Ocean series so I'm going to love this game.
