Forums - Nintendo - Is Call of Duty, World at War Wii starting to do that Wii Stealth move?

Heck that means WaW is at least 375 in America alone in December, add in the rest of NA and November sales and realistically it's got to be over 600k in NA alone for '08. If Europe is similarly undertracked it'll have 300k sales there which means it'll likely be a million seller by the end of January!!! Fantastic! Who says FPS can't sell on Wii??

Hope ioi adjusts accordingly.

So far, I've seen no evidence that Europe is similarly undertracked. VGC might be totally accurate on EU sales.

Not that I don't want the game to sell, I'm just trying to keep it real. ;)

What was your prediction?

I do agree that this game seems to be showing quite the legs, and I'd very happily buy the game if it had split-screen. Oh well, 'tis not meant to be. I do hope that this game goes on to sell a nice amount! I highly doubt the next COD Wii game will have splitscreen, but I can hope!

It's in my signature, 2M by the end of the holiday sales next year (Jan 1, 2010). When I made it, it seemed like a huge leap of faith. Now I think it's in the bag unless they do something stupid like take it off the shelf.

Yeah, early sales were pretty tragic, but it's holding well (in America at least, but it could have been undertracked in Others, too.)

It'll end up close to COD2 and 3 (360) which should be enough reason for IW to do a Wii version of Modern Warfare 2.

That's not bad at all, when you consider what happened with the series. I mean, it was relatively small until recently, with its popularity only rising on the HD consoles, since it flew into the stratosphere (GTA level sales) with CoD4. Too bad the Wii missed out on that one (it'd be hard to replicate on the console, anyway).

I still think if they "Halo" the game - make it more sociable by adding 4 player split screen online, it has the potential to rise to the PS3's CoD sales. The Wii's main attraction is its local multiplayer, after all. Unfortunately, they probably won't do it...

I just realized, if the Wii version makes 2mil, and the HD versions match CoD4, we're looking at 13mil+ total for this game. That's just nuts... who would have thought a franchise like this could get so damn big?

We'll have to wait and see--Wii games do tend to have beautiful legs, though.

Looks like it! It is closing on half of what 360-version sold week one and it is already sold more than what 360-version sold on week 2. It has great legs too, it sold almost 33% as much as 360-version did on last complete week(9).

Wow, I totally didn't see that in your signature. Your Console gif steals all the attention. :P

Just by looking at the sales graph for this game since it's release, it looks like it's possible for the game to hit 2m without pulling any crazy stunts. Looking at how it's tracking now versus when it first came out, I'd say it's looking more likely every week. I wonder when the big drop off will happen with this game, if there is one.

I agree with this post.

What does 360 have to do with a Wii thread other then trolling?

Well it was mentioned in OP, in a way that 360 version sold only 11% of launch weeks numbers. I merely offered another way to look at the numbers. How can facts be considered trolling?
