QFT, You should always consider your SO when spending your money. Playing the whole "my" money "your" money thing just causes mariage problems.
The way I have it set up, is we each get $50/month to spend on yourself (I typically don't spend it) but anything after those $50 has to be aproved by the other. This way we keep our spending in check, but still get to save up for things we want. So I have the option of buying 1 new game/month, or I could save it and buy myself new motorcycle boots.
So far in the last 6 months, I only went over the $50 twice. Once for the PS3 (i was working overtime at the time, and ended up considering it a Christmas gift) and the other for a 7.2 surround sound system, which we both enjoy.
Maybe you could do something like that. That way you don't have to ask for permission to buy games, if you have the $ saved up.
