Your asking a very valid question. The first question is will the consoles position cost the console support. The second question is it justifiable to be concerned. The answer to both questions is yes. The console will have less exclusive support, and less support in general. Yes you should be concerned it isn't just the position its the financial condition of the parent company.

No you are not paranoid. You are being rational, and perhaps you are a little further in the curve then most. A lot of posters here will not panic until it is too late. They will try to trade in their PS3 to find its worth much less due to its market position, and the lack of a true future. Consoles can be looked at as investments especially where depreciation is concerned.

Your asking sound questions, and the self serving will try to discourage you, but that is not about what is best for you. For them its all about what is best for them. There is nothing wrong with playing it safe. Selling the PS3 in favor of a 360 or a Wii is a safe move. You know you will have better games, and you know you will have better long term value. There is no reason for you to gamble with your limited gaming dollar.

Many of these posters would respond differently if they were in your situation. However they are not if the PS3 goes bust they can just buy a new console. You need to be able to sell your old console to buy a new console. The console goes bust or suffers from its market position, and you lose a lot of trade in value. I recommend you go with a safer alternative. You will sleep better, and if their argument is games for multiple platforms. You can still get the other console and have more and have those multiple platform games. It isn't even an argument against changing up consoles.

Problem solved. The ps3 is going to be discontinued. Sell it now and get a wii so you can sleep better at night. LOL

you are very funny. and very wrong...

PLAYSTATION®3

there's a great line up for 2009... so unless you're really not interested in any of those games then i'd get out of gaming period.

You're being paranoid. PS3 will be just fine.

This is stupid, why would you ever sell a PS3 when Blu-Ray is just getting into its stride and theres on hell of a 2009 lineup for the console?

Don't know about the 2009 lineup, it never worked for the PS3 in the past so.... but selling the console is stupid, it is the best price/quality ratio for BR at the moment. That is practically the only true achievement of the PS3.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

@dodece

once again you post a huge 500 word essay without backing up anything & without proofs as to PS3 doing bad

PS3 is selling more than 360 was right now last year

yet there was no doon n gloom for that.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I would stick with it.

Why would you do that with SF 4, KZ 2, and RE 5 just right around the corner?

Not to mention the gaming line up of 2009. Go research them and you will see many great upcoming exclusives and multiplats.

Last gen the Xbox was behind the PS2 by a huge margin and we did not see 3rd parties stop making games for it, in fact most games were multiplat.

@ Dodece

No offense, but IMO you write the biggest, and longest pile of drivvle Ive ever seen on a forum.
