And people have predicted doom for Nintendo since the days of N64

So true!

People are quickly to forget a corporation doesn't need massive successes and media blitz, all they require is to turn a profit. And Nintendo knows how to do that.

Speaking about, how is Nintendo's warchest doing? Reached 30B already?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Sega almost made more money than Sony

I guess Sony was in it for "The Fame" afterall, or as they would call it "The Vision".

Holy crap dude, so in the last three years Nintendo has made over a trillion Yen, or nearly ten billion Dollars? That's insane

what could one buy for ten billion $?

Lot's and lotsa pizza! could probably buy Pizza hut, could certainly buy Dominoes and Papa Johns.

EA? EA might be nice, it is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.5 billion, though if they wanted to pay cash it could probably be had for less.

Square Enix? hmm seems Sqeenix market cap is around 300B yen. So they could double up and get EA and Squeenix with cash on hand, and still have money for pizza.
This just in: FF13 and 14 Wii exclusive!

Activision? Well they're at a high point and valued at about 14.5 billion... and well except for guitar hero what successful games do they have that would fit on a Nintendo platform.

or "Buy all the hotel stocks. Yes, all of them. Collectively, all the major hotel company stocks have a market capitalization of less than $10 billion" ( http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/03/04/apple-market-cap-higher-than-ge-a-speculative-buyout-menu-for-a/ )

What I find incredible is that Nintendo posted profits higher than Playstation in all years other than 2003 despite "losing" the generation.

What does that say about the Playstation brand? *cough*overrated*cough*

Don't the Sega numbers include arcade machines as well as game centers as well? They still own hundreds if not thousands of game centers filled with Sega arcade machines in Japan now, far more back in their prime. They used to have a many arcade machines abroad as well.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Any updates on these.

with that kind of money why does nintendo only stay a game company??
you would think that since they can run a company so well even when they are "losing" they would move into other industries and do the same.

computers anyone??

Nintendo is a 100 years old company, they are already in other types of business.

Or that they have guts and are ready to invest a lot to have better things.

The fact that they won the hd format war prolly balance the lost we see on this chart. Sony is a lot bigger then Nintendo.

did we ever get updated numbers for MS 2009?
