Disgaea 3:  Absence of Justice

Q:  What is Disgaea?

A:  Disgaea is a strategy role-playing series developed by Nippon Ichi (N1 or NIS).  The first game (Disgaea: Hour of Darkness) came out for the PS2 in 2003.  The most recent console game is Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice for the PS3.

Q.  How does it work?

A.  Just read the wiki page.  Disgaea is too big to summarize in an itty bitty paragraph but it's kind of like a Tactics game... only not really.

Q.  Do I need to play the other games to understand this one?

A.  No, all games are separate from one another.  The more games you play, the more cameos you'll recognize however.

Q.  Is it true the level cap is 9999?

A.  Yes.  The level cap is 9999 and you can literally do over 1 trillion damage in a single turn.

So who owns/has played this game?

This was the reason for me to get a PS3 last year.

I own it, and it is DAMN awesome. A big step up from the other games in my opinion. The combat and character building is vastly improved ^_^

Actually, I liked the main characters of Disgaea 2 more than Disgaea 3.  Adell was just full of awesome and win as was Rozy.

Even so, the whole experience of Disgaea 3 felt more polished.

Mr. Champloo was exceptional though.  Pretty much every line of his made me laugh.

very good game, I recommend it to anyone who likes the classic grid style SRPG and a silly storyline that never takes itself too seriously.

I own it, playing through the story mode a third time, highest character atm is a 1874 Almaz. Item World is soo much better when you can buy music. Sinful Rose ftw.

@WoW Oh on that note I agree completely :D I just think D3 plays much better. They did a good job with the height and blocks ^^ I ESP like that the classes have specific skills this time around as well. It always bothered me before.

At least now you can put a litte bit of awesome into Disgaea 3 since Adell and Rosalin are available as DLC.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I really liked that as well.  I'm still not sure what skill levels do for non-damaging spells like Shield though.  You can buy higher bonuses which give you more spaces and better % so what does skill do?

I'm looking to get the PSP one of the series and if I like it, I might just pick this up, too. I don't know much but they do sound and look interesting.
