Forums - Nintendo - Full scale Pokemon RPG for home consoles - Why not?

Most 3D Pokemon games were either a supplement to the handheld games(Stadium/Stadium 2/Battle Revolution) or a spinoff(Snap/Hey You Pikachu/Puzzle League). The 2 exceptions were Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness but that's because there were only 202 Pokemon available between Ruby and Sapphire. It's also the reason why there's a FireRed and LeafGreen.

None of that is related to what you said above or what I quoted.

They have a good thing going. They constantly rehash ideas with a new coat of paint and some upgrades every few years and suckers like us keep buying them, thus generating craploads of money.

Doing a full console version would take more time, money and resources, just to achieve an outcome that wouldn't be much better financially than what they get with the handheld versions.

There will never be a full scale Pokemon game on a home console. The series is about social playing thru battling/trading with friends. That can't be done with one file on a home console.

Make 2 different console versions and hook them both up to the wfc.  Done.

It depends on where Satoshi Tajiri wants to take the series really.  The original vision of Pokemon was being able to exchange creatures through a cable.  Even though the DS/lite/i don't have a Link cable, I think they made a comprimise with wireless.  Probably the reason why there are still LINES during trades in D/P/P.

But it would sell systems and that too huge numbers, unless I am mistaken it is the biggest franchise in the gaming industry. TV shows, Card game, video games etc, Nintendo could easily fund to make the franchise even bigger by making it huge on home consoles.

I've actually grown tired of those that say Nintendo has full say on where the franchise goes.  If there were a home console version, it would hinder the handheld sales.  Who wants to play a game on a DS when they can play the game on a Wii?  Pokemon is the strongest seller on Nintendo's handhelds so I don't think a full scale console game will be coming anytime soon.

And battle animations.

There is a reason that Pokemon simply would not work on a console, despite how cool it may seem - when you become a really deep Pokemon player (as the majority of people on the net who play it are), a lot of boring, and time-consuming tasks start to become a big part of the game. Tasks such as IV breeding and EV training etc. I, for one, much prefer doing this on a handheld, since I can have the TV or something on and contuinally cycle up and down waiting for an egg to hatch, without paying much attention.

Can you imagine how mind-numblingly boring tasks such as this would be if you were playing them on TV and having to sit watching them? I know I wouldn't like to do it.

As cool as they would be on a console, they are just too time-consuming to contemplate playing. I mean, who actually bred for moves and such in Colosseum and XD? Couldn't imagine anything worse.
