I'm very suspicious of the Wii number given that December had five weeks and that November had four.

2.04m/4 weeks in Nov = 510k/week

2.15m/5 weeks in Dec = 430k/week

Does anyone really believe Nintendo would ship more in November weeks than in December weeks? If they just sent a massive allocation for November and hoped it would hold and sent a comparable allocation for December its a pretty terrible tactical decision.

November software:

 1. Gears of War 2 (Microsoft, Xbox 360) - 1.56 million
2. Call of Duty: World At War (Activision Blizzard, Xbox 360) - 1.41 million
3. Wii Play (Nintendo, Wii) - 796,000
4. Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii) - 697,000
5. Mario Kart (Nintendo, Wii) - 637,00
6. Call of Duty: World At War (Activision Blizzard, PS3) - 597,000
7. Guitar Hero: World Tour (Activision Blizzard, Wii) - 475,000
8. Left 4 Dead (Electronic Arts, Xbox 360) - 410,000
9. Resistance 2 (Sony, PlayStation 3) - 385,000
10. Wii Music (Nintendo, Wii) - 297,000

December software:

1. Wii Play w/ remote - Wii – Nintendo – 1.46 million
2. Call of Duty: World at War - Xbox 360 – Activision – 1.33 million*
3. Wii Fit w/ balance board – Wii – Nintendo – 999K
4. Mario Kart Wii w/ wheel – Wii – Nintendo – 979K
5. Guitar Hero: World Tour - Wii – Activision – 850K*
6. Gears of War 2 - Xbox 360 – Microsoft – 745K*
7. Left 4 Dead - Xbox 360 – Electronic Arts – 629K
8. Mario Kart - DS – Nintendo – 540K
9. Call of Duty: World at War - PS3 – Activision – 533K
10. Animal Crossing: City Folk - Wii – Nintendo – 497K*

Total for each

November: 7264K

December: 8562K

Pr week that is

November: 1816K

December: 1712K

So the top 10 software was actually lower in December than in November? Seems a bit fishy to me.

Microsoft failed. They cut the price and earned $50 less of everyone of those 1.4 million 360s they sold in December. That's about US$70 million they didn't make. Considering the differences in prices between 360's SKU's ($200, $300, $350) and PS3's SKUs ($400, $500) a simple calculation says Microsoft didn't make more than US$80 million over the PS3 earnings even when outselling it 2:1. Major LOL. Note: We're talking about both companies earned from 300-400 million dollars in hardwares sales alone. Sure, Microsoft wins a little extra market share and saves some face, and also sold some good extra software this holiday season, but can they keep it up now that the shopping season is over...and a PS3 price cut is soon to come, 360 days of joy will end just as abruptly as they started after that price cut!

More like you fail.

MS captured the main target. Europe

Incoming damage control from Nintendo fans I guess. Haven't heard short supply for a while, what say you roll that one out again for our enjoyment.

No damage control needed, #1 selling console, #1 handheld, and Wii had half of the top 10 selling games.

5 weeks versus 4 weeks, and lack of Black friday doesn't seem too fishy at all.

I see that business is not your strenght.

So...

DS - 3.04 million
Wii - 2.15 Million
360 - 1.44 million
PSP - 1.02 million
PS3 - 726k (down a lil from last year)
PS2 - 410k (down a lot from last year)

PS3 was down 71k, that is not a "lil bit" that is over 10%, quite nasty when you think it had LBP,Resistance 2 etc..

Umm, it is less than 10%.  I wouldn't call that "nasty", especially when it had a price drop last year.

Its actually a 9% drop and yes dropping 9% at the busiest time of year in a market everyone else is growing is nasty. There is no spin you can put on it. The Wii,360,DS are all growing in sales while the Sony products are decreasing. These numbers will force Sony into either accepting 3rd place this gen or dropping prices.

Is that Mario chasing Dmeister J!

2008:

DS 9.951 mil
PSP 3.829 mil
360 4.735 mil
PS3 3.544 mil
Wii 10.171 mil

LTD:

DS 27.541 mil
PSP 14.341 mil
360 13.860 mil
PS3 6.794 mil
Wii 17.54 mil

I think Wii in 2008 has sold more than the best PS2 year ever ...
