Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The end of a Saga: Now, the world ends with me.

I have been searching for The World Ends With You for a long time.  Since the day of it's release in Australia in fact.

I saw it on that day for $AU70.  I was unwilling to pay that price, and most games are normally discounted on release by certain stores.  So later on that day I went and checked other outlets and found they all had the same price.

I went away for a week and decided I would suck up the price and get it.  It was gone.  From every store.

I have spent literally weeks and months trying to find a copy of the game in stores remotely close to where I live (including all major games stores in Central Sydney.  Having checked perhaps a dozen stores, I walked into my local EB games where I had originally seen the game on day 1.  I asked the guy at the counter if the title was in stock and he said that it was, and went out the back to retrieve it.  He came back and said "sorry mate, someone put our only copy in the hold section, I can't sell it too you."  At this point I was desperate so I said, "What if I gave you ten dollars on top of the retail price?"  He said, "sorry mate, I can't do that, and I don't normally work at this store so I don't know how their system works."

Bitch.

Anyway, that was about a week ago, and I have since checked a dozen other stores looking for the title.  An hour ago, I was walking past the EB again and thought "screw it, worth a shot."  I walked in and asked the girl at the counter if they had the game and she said "yes.  "Actually I was just going through the hold section this morning and someone didn't come to pick it up."

So now I have TWEWY for $AU70.  For reference, I have never paid more than $AU47 for a DS game, and that was The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.  I have a week to return the game if I don't like it.  All I can say is this better be a bloody impressive game, or I am taking it back.

/rant.

It was hard for me to find in the U.S. as well (though I gave up fairly quickly). Low supply like that certainly didn't help the sales of the game.

I get that they can't over-produce cartridges because if it doesn't sell they are screwed. But honestly, why don't they re-order when the game so easily sells out it's allotment?

come to Canada I see it everywhere...and I still dont own it.

Im not paying 49.99$ for a DS game.

I bought it here in Canada like a week after launch with ease, for 40$. I'm not familiar with the difference between our currency but if there similar, then I'd be outraged by 70 too. All the wii games here are 50$ each, and most DS games are 25-35$, I guess I should be thankful for how cheap we get our games in NA.

TWEWY is an amazing game. I was blown away right from the start. Def. one of my favourite DS games. You should just try to beat it in a week then return it, its not that long.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

I didn't get the hype at all. My least favorite DS game by far.

And it's in pretty ample supply at retailers around here.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

i thought the game was terrible but others seem to love it so hey you may see what those others saw also

Saw it at a Circuit City while wasting time and almost bought it. Probably would've but I called the friends whose DS I was going to use to play it and he left it at home, and I wasn't willing to spend the money to get a DS as well.

Guess I'll just have to keep disappointing Naz with my not having played it. C'est la vie.

...

Really good DS game. Loved it.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Despite the rave reviews, I didn't like it at all.
