One of my top RPGs of all time. It has tons of replay value and heck I still play it from time to time. KOTOR 2 was great as well but for me it just didn't top the first one.

Consoles Owned: Sega Genesis, NES, PS2 (RIP) N64, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii

Kotor is a good game, but Kotor 2 is much better.

KotOR2 is better in most elements... except the story.

I thought Kotor 2's best point was the story, characters, interaction and writing...

The interaction and writing were okay.  The characters were a mixed bag.  I hated Kreia and I despised the fact that new characters were almost identical to old ones (*cough* Atton *cough*).

As for the story... I was hoping Obsidian would come up with something better.  Instead they just said "Oh look at what Bioware did, let's run the same story just with different characters and places."  That's a bit of an exaggeration but, on the whole, it felt like too much was lifted from the original.

The story was far better in Kotor 2 Imo, and Kreia is one of the most memorable characters I've ever encountered in a videogame. Her disguised passion and raison d'etre blew my mind with a sublety that Kotor 1's less refined twist (you being Revan) didn't have. It just made so much sense to all of Kreia's actions throughout the game. Of course Kotor 1's twist was still awesome, but I remember wondering whether I was Revan a couple of times before I reached that point.
I also loved the fact that it wasn't just Good vs Evil: it was the self vs the ones around you, the moral vs amoral. They didn't cut dry in 2 slices. There was alot of grey between them.

Kotor 2's story wasn't like the first one. The problem was that Obisidian only had 12 months to make Kotor 2, so they were forced to re-use ALOT of the same assets, voice actors, etc... so it's understandable that someone might feel there's resemblance.

lol I totally forgot about Kreia. After looking at some screenshots, I remember I didn't like her...

Kotor's story was far better IMO, but Kotor 2 was an excellent game nonetheless.

It's a shame that Kotor 2 was rushed.

Story, characters etc were on par with the first one, but the end ruined it for me.

It was like playing a great game for 3/4 of the time, and for the last quarter you just thought WTF.

I'm still hoping for a third chapter, but with the Kotor MMO, i highly doubt we will ever see one.

I'm glad you enjoyed the first game. It really is great! Get the second one if you can, it's better in every way that matters.

KOTOR 2 is better in many aspects but...
Am I the only one that wondered "what the hell" when it finished? I mean... it was so abrupt...

No, unfortunately, you are not. The very end was only saved by Kreia's soliloquy, which many people didn't really appreciate.

I liked the ending, but I am in an extreme minority, and even I could tell that it wasn't finished.

I think Kotor 2 was a better game than the original, though I can see why some people would think otherwise. The game really was bug-ridden and rushed, and suffered from a less-than-engaging opening (I really didn't care for the murder mystery, personally) not to mention half the endgame was cut making the final hours a complete mess. Yet, despite this, I consider it one of the few games with real narrative depth, and the only WRPG I know of with proper character interaction. That's more than I can say of any Bioware game in recent memory - Mass Effect just completely failed in that regard.

It helps that it was not a BioWare RPG. Its closest contemporary from BioWare would probably be Jade Empire, which isn't on the same planet in terms of narrative quality (though it is very good in and of itself).

I need to play this game again. Ah, how I miss breaking Hanharr.

KOTOR would easily come into the my list of 5 best RPG's. Was an amazing experience
