Forums - Nintendo - The flaw in the Wii which makes surpassing the PS2s sales even better.

it seems only MS has mastered the art of making you buy multiple machines this generation. I am sure Nintendo will learn from their mistake, and next gen the Wii2 will spew fire after 500 hours of play time.

Another example of Sony having lost their way. They used to be so good at this sort of thing...

hmm wonder how many of the 138 million PS2 sales are rebuys?

I have bought 2 atleast, don't think I'll buy another Wii......black Wii... oh forget that I will buy another Wii

The only thing the Wii has left is colors, I mean a slim version of the Wii? harldy.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

The duct tape will wear out eventually. So GameCube sales will double, and people still have to replace their Wiis. Win/win.

So the Wii will "win" this generation, and the Gamecube will retroactively "win" last generation...

Bloody brilliant!

I think it's very unlikely that in 3 or 4 years the Wii's will just start to break. Nintendo has a history of making some of the most reliable hardware known, or else my Urgameboy wouldn't be working anymore, i forgot it one time out in the rain for like 4 hours Or my snes is also still working and the list goes on.

Yep, and by manipulating the past, Nintendo beats Sony to the punch regarding 4D gaming!

LOL!!! Yeah... maybe I need to get four more gc controlers for when that happens. :)

As long as you have an optical drive there will start to be a decent number of hardware failures after 4 or 5 years ...

When you start to see optical drives that have rotated a disc tens (or hundreds) of Millions of times they just start to wear out.

Pfft, this answer to that is easy. Nintendo needs to take a page from Apple, and invent a wii kill switch. Every wii that lasts longer than 13 months will shut off imminently. Oh wait... they call that "bricking" don't they?

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

I think I need to buy a lens cleaner for my Wii it started acting up with reading disc but never gave any disc error messages just wouldn't play them. Somehow it fixed itself and works perfectly now. Probably got a little dirt on the lens.

I had a debate with some fanboys on an aussie website when i posted the 1 million record for Wii's shipped in Australia.

Apparently alot of buyers have 2 because one is used for hacking. huh, so how many hackers buy 2 Wii's?

The other excuse was what you said, they break. Crap, they don't break and if they its as rare as the PS3

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
