For me, HYPED isn't even the word... I can't wait

Yea, actually, same here...

I'm a huge fan of QD, so this is one of my most awaited games this year. I've watched the tech demo from 2005 dozens of times

Do you understand french? Did you understand what the guy says in the 24 mins show?

Unfortunately, I haven't taken French since middle school so most of what David Cage was saying, I didn't undestand. Regardless, everything that was shown in that 24 min vid, is more advanced than I've seen in other console games and THAT'S mostly why it excites me. Of course the visuals are a HUGE bonus, outside of Killzone 2, I haven't seen a better looking console title! But the physics, animation and plot have me BEYOND stoked. That 2006 tech demo just gave a SLIGHT taste into what HEAVY RAIN will be :D

During the show, hes talking about so many great things...

How you can play this little preview of the game many ways, fighting the guy, killing the guy, being killed, killing him with a knife, with a gun, with a chainsaw, how you can open the garage door with the switch or with a screwdriver...

I'm pretty sure this game, besides the graphics which are spectacular, will be very fun and have a great replay value.

@Bokai and CGI

I am really looking forward to seeing how all this pans out. If it is true what you say then Heavy Rain might just be the most realistic game EVER. Almost unlimited possibilities with what man can make happen.

If I found a little time, I'll try to make a full translation of the interesting things he says.

From what I remember he says "We think we have the most beautiful menu in a video game. We are very proud of it. It's not prerendered, it's real time using the game engine. We used a lot of facial motion capture, even for the eyes, which gives it a very realistic look".

There's is also something cool, there's a button that makes you hear what the character thinks. And it's contextual. For example, if you press this button when the character is about to get into the house through the window, she thinks "He's a suspect, but it's still breaking the law to get into the house by the window" (or something like that).

When you see the character hiding in the cabinet (is that the word?), he says you could have been hiding under the bed too, or in another room...

I can't remember everything now, more to come if I found some time to translate.

Almost unlimited possibilities in heavily static and predefined world does not compute. Almost unlimited possibilities in procedurally generated game with no predefined interactions is more like it.

I can give you a nice example of procedural content,

Yeah, thats just simple demo I have made about pseudo infinite worlds. Everything you see in that demo is always the same with same seed. So content of that demo isn't random. Whole world is wrap around and you can get into same point by going into one way enough. The thing is you need to go into that direction for a day or couple days(real days) before even wrapping kicks in. So large world in so small file, how it is possible? ;)

What I meant was...

Man= Quantic Dreams

Happen=Heavy Rain

I was refering to the pure advancements of video games, not the level of depth of Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain already has me sold though on how realistic it can be .

@ Smashed

I think PS3's real capabilities will start to truly shine this year, can't wait man!

Hell yeah

I imagine the storyline will shock people too. I mean, just look at the preview. A taxidermist (someone who stuffs dead animal) has murdered a pair of women, stuff them, and then dressed them up as sex dolls, presumably to rape them.

Has someting as dark and mature as necrophillia ever been seriously attempted in a videogame story before?

After all, videogames are still thought of as children's toys. hence all the controversy surrounding GTA and the Mass Effect sex scene, and I wouldn't be surprised if Heavy Rain sends a shockwave through the media. The inevitable sex scene (all of QD's games have a tasteful sex scene in them) will also probably stir up a bit of controversity too.
