Forums - Sony - Stop comparing Killzone 2 to Resistance 2 and LBP!

The first Killzone was rubbish which tarnished the brand name among core gamers. Also the ps3 user base it too small for it to games sell as much as the Wii and 360.

It sounds like the same old song;

When Lair is released it will be a system seller.
When Haze is released it will be a system seller.
When MGS4 is released it will be a system seller.
When Resistance 2 is released it will be a system seller.
When LBP is released it will be a system seller.
When Home is released it will be a system seller.
etc etc

MGS4 was the only one out of those that really pushed consoles.

When MGS4 is released it will be a system seller. It was.

I don't believe I said it would be a system seller, I said it would not sell as.. I won't say badly, but as...

It will sell better than R2 and LBP. Both of them.

Nothing short of Gran Turismo 5 will be a system seller, FFXIII will be a system seller in Japan.

God of War III could be a very minor system seller, which is the best that Killzone 2 can aspire to be. Something like Fable II.

And you'd be amazed just how few people have actually heard of Killzone. Anybody educated enough to know that Killzone existed and was very buggy is educated enough to have seen/read the Killzone 2 trailers/beta impressions and know that it isn't a buggy mess.

With Halo-level advertising (which it isn't going to get), this game could sell well over a million first week, maybe 2 million.

Kantor, a lot of people did say every game besides haze on that list would be a system seller.

I'm getting Killzone 2, and I would never get resistance 2.

Nobody said Home and Resistance 2 would be system sellers. I admit I joined this site after Lair was released, so I don't know if that happened. Lair really isn't that bad, judging by the demo. You just need to switch it to analog controls, and the game left is pretty decent, 7.5/10 material.

This is so much garbage. So you will blame the lackluster sales on "non-Halo advertising levels"? Face it, software doesn't move well on the PS3. Look at the sales difference in multiplats and you will see that it has nothing to do with advertising, but with installed base and attach rate. The only 1 mil first day seller for the PS3 MIGHT be FFXIII or GT5, but I doubt it on both.

And, as other people have said, there have been multiple claims about all of those games listed that they would move PS hardware. You seem to be the only one still damage controlling that one.

So when people were claiming R2 might run with gears 2 on sales they must have just meant that no new gamers would be attracted to the PS3, huh? And wow, who cares how great you think Lair is (it's horrible, imo)? Wasn't the topic what would sell systems? And Home was Sony's answer to Live, one of the implicit system sellers for MS. Again, you are alone in thsi damage control me thinks.

People were claiming that R2 would sell on Gears 2 levels? No, I believe the equation was LBP>Gears 2>Fable II>Resistance 2, which ultimately turned out to be wrong, but that's not the point.

When did I say Lair was great? I said it isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. It wasn't a system seller, I know, I was going off topic a bit there. That's a game which was killed by hype.

Home was not "Sony's answer to Live", I don't see any resemblance. Live is an online service, Home is a virtual world. Pretty much nobody cared about it by the time it released, please find me ONE (non-CrazzyMan) post that states that Home would be a system seller. And you clearly don't have much faith in the 360 if you think it's selling because of Live. It's selling because of game library and price. Live is just a bullet point under the 360, like WLAN is a bullet point under the PS3.

I'm not damage controlling, I'm stating facts. The facts that it is ridiculous to compare Killzone 2 to Haze, Lair, Home and LBP. And remember, I never stated that Killzone 2 was a system seller. All I said is that it will outsell LBP, R2, and in doing so, outsell Haze and Lair.

Thinking KZ2 isnt competing with CoDWaW is a fools move.

Even worse is the fact that CoD has already been out and has momentum. People who are only picking up one fps this year probably already got CoD.

I fully agree with your point of not comparing KZ2 with LBP and R3 though

Killzone 2 releases next year, and most people don't buy one FPS a year...

That was confusing. Past, future, present tenses mixed together.
