I guess it wasn't a fair shake, but as a rule I don't play games for more than 2-3 hours if I'm not already having fun. I believe it is the developer's job to make a good intro to a game, and not my duty to tolerate a boring intro.

I stopped playing DMC3 at the first boss (I almost quit at the intro video, but I gave it a second chance), and I stopped playing Resident Evil when they told me I was the master of lockpicks and handed me a lockpick and the next door I got to was locked and it recommended I use my new lockpick.

..I have no rebuttal for this.

you stop playing 2-3 hours into it??? wow talk about not giving something a chance, especially a deep rpg... setting up the story, almost all FF's start out slow and pick up greatly

In all fairness the first 4-5 hours of FFVII are the most boring, it's after you leave Midgar that the game makes a 180 and turns into a very good game, I still love that materia system.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

exactly once you leave midgar everything changes, however i found great enjoyment trying to save the pillar from falling, the music and the whole situation grabbed you

If anybody wants to get out of Midgar, save the game, and mail me the game and a memory card, I have a PS1 somewhere around here, and if I can find the plugs and a controller I'll totally play the game for another 2-3 hours post-Midgar.

Or you can come to Oakland, play the first few hours of the game while reading any important dialogue out loud to me while I play something awesome like Tetris, and then pass me the controller when the game gets good, we can do that too.

...........wow

I liked FFIV better...

What's the point. Final Fantasy VII is terrible. Even beyond Midgar the game is a joke.
