their games suck. The mortal kombat franchise is good though.
They screwed up making the new mortal kombat geared for little kids . It didnt feel like mortal kombat.

Fiscal reality is setting in...

Expect a bunch of companies to hit the skids over the next year or two. There are a lot of companies that have spent AAA dollars on games and haven't seen a return on the investment.

I expect this is only the beginning of a trend for many more companies. Their IPs will be picked up dirt cheap by one of the big ones (EA, Activision / Blizzard / Ubisoft) and live on somehow. It takes a lot of credit to build games, and that belt is being tightened.

Now we wait to see who the vultures are.

another publsiher eaten up by HD gaming. Not like they didnt try... Stranglehold was a bold effort and that totally tanked for some reason.

They should have been making arcade like titles instead.

Does that mean the end of Unreal Tournament 3 online??

A more off the wall NBA Jam game to compete with NBA Street, and a sequel to Psi-Ops would've been good executive decisions. Now, it's too late. Thanks for the memories, Midway. When they sucked, they REALLY sucked, but when they were good, they were REALLY good!

Yeah Stranglehold was actually fun. Unfortunately it was released against heavy competition. A lot of publishers are going to falter because they've put just about all their eggs in the low margin HD basket. The higher development costs and the smaller userbase leaves little margin for error. I wonder who will get all of Midway's IPs. Given the surpising quality of MK vs DC, someone will probably snatch up Boon and Co. do create a sequel.

There was a rumour at the begining of the year that had MS buying out Midway, perhaps it will come to fruition.

Clearly Nintendo is destroying the video games business. Look at this company, they bet heavily on Nintendo's platforms only to... Oh wait!
