Nintendo rarely if ever pushes back the release of a game after they have given a specific date. They may say "Q1 07) and end up having it pushed back from there, but it's been given a release date and it will meet that date. They have Mario Kart already lined up for early next year and if anyone REALLY thinks they are not planning ahead they are kidding themselves. Nintendo doesn't just stop making great games after the first year of a system.

I would love to be proved wrong (again, I am a huge Nintendo fan, with a Wii as my sole next gen console), but I still have a feelling that SSBB will be delayed till early next year. Besides, that isn't true that Nintendo rarely pushes back releases: they delayed MP8 from March to May, then delayed MP3 (though it was just a week).

I think SSMM would be more usefull for them next year. Then they would release SSMM, Mario Kart and Wii Fit in the first half of the year, maybe even first quarter. Why forfeit two big sellers when they cannot even keep up with the demand for the Wii. I believe they are keeping SSMM as an ace up their sleeve. If everything keeps doing well till the end of the year then they could save it for next year, otherwise they could release it this year. And that would explain why they doesn't release relevant info about the game.

Why? In the interest of early domination. Nintendo is following the formula that made Sony successful. Release as many huge games as you possibly can in the first year. The PS2 had GT3, GTAIII, and FFX all in 2001. If you don't think this contributed to the PS2's runaway success you are crazy. Also, notice that despite the fact that all 3 of these games were released around the same time they all had incredible sales. I understand that you don't approve of their method, but there is really no evidence to suggest SSBB being delayed, and there is very good reason to lead off with your strongest titles in the first year.  I can't see anything about their information (especially the fact that they JUST announced the release date a few weeks ago) that suggests they have any intention of pushing this game back.  I think you are concerned about a drought next year, so you WANT them to push the game back, but I think your fear is unfounded.

nintendo needs to push the uinterest envelope the first year even if tehy are selling out. They need people to talk about their games and be like OMG I need SMG and SSMB and MP3. It will accelerate sales and Nintendo games tend to have legs because of that strategy. they need to show they can do Super mario right Super mario Sunshine sucked compared to 64 but galaxy looks to redefine platforming by not making it so flat(similar to SM3 not fully original but truly building and twisting standard gaming models). They need these big games out this year so tehy can't start working on complaint number 2 no new IPs(which is a false complaint but needs to be shown)

Er... I think region encoding would make that more than a little difficult... might as well put the game in a PS3.

I thought the Wii was regionless?

PS3: 5.51m/51w, avg 108,039/w (up 239)
360: 12.93m/102w, avg 126,764/w (up 625), leads PS3 by 7.42m (up 70k), avg lead 18,725/w (up 386)
Wii: 13.52m/51w, avg 265,098/w (dn 1,102), leads PS3 by 8.01m (up 90k), avg lead 157,059/w (dn 1,341)

If 360 sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass 360 by...
01/08: (008w) +875.8%, 04/08: (021w) +344.4%, 07/08: (034w) +219.3%, 10/08: (047w) +163.5%

If PS2 sales freeze, Wii sales increases needed to pass PS2 (as of Mar07, 108.4m) by...
2008: (008w) +4373.8%, 2009: (060w) +0496.5%, 2010: (112w) +0219.6%, 2011: (165w) +0116.9%

Nope.  Region encoded.  The PS3 isn't, but the 360 and Wii are.

Well we had to wait for Strikers...the first real online Wii game...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Trust me, I WISH IT WERE.

Still hoping we'll have a Freeloader of some kind will become available by the end of the year. I'd love to play Brawl as soon as possible, but don't feel like voiding my warranty and risk a future update bricking my console if I chip it.

Oh, and you're crazy if you think Brawl isn't coming out this year for NA.

If Nintendo delayed a game they've dated specifically at a conference...especially Brawl...there'd be a massacre on our hands...

Perhaps Nintendo could do well if Brawl was coming out sometime next year...but with everybody assuming it's coming out this year, and they've specifically dated it...there's NO WAY it'd get delayed, except by a week or two at the most.

Did you even see the Nintendo E3 Conference?

Reggie himself said not next year.......not next spring....but December 3, 2007.
