I would love to be proved wrong (again, I am a huge Nintendo fan, with a Wii as my sole next gen console), but I still have a feelling that SSBB will be delayed till early next year. Besides, that isn't true that Nintendo rarely pushes back releases: they delayed MP8 from March to May, then delayed MP3 (though it was just a week). I think SSMM would be more usefull for them next year. Then they would release SSMM, Mario Kart and Wii Fit in the first half of the year, maybe even first quarter. Why forfeit two big sellers when they cannot even keep up with the demand for the Wii. I believe they are keeping SSMM as an ace up their sleeve. If everything keeps doing well till the end of the year then they could save it for next year, otherwise they could release it this year. And that would explain why they doesn't release relevant info about the game. |
Why? In the interest of early domination. Nintendo is following the formula that made Sony successful. Release as many huge games as you possibly can in the first year. The PS2 had GT3, GTAIII, and FFX all in 2001. If you don't think this contributed to the PS2's runaway success you are crazy. Also, notice that despite the fact that all 3 of these games were released around the same time they all had incredible sales. I understand that you don't approve of their method, but there is really no evidence to suggest SSBB being delayed, and there is very good reason to lead off with your strongest titles in the first year. I can't see anything about their information (especially the fact that they JUST announced the release date a few weeks ago) that suggests they have any intention of pushing this game back. I think you are concerned about a drought next year, so you WANT them to push the game back, but I think your fear is unfounded.
