Nope.. don't hate it... I pirated a lot when I was younger... Copied games on floppydisks & using audiotapes for the c64... didn't even knew where you could buy the games... does anybody know where you bought C64 games?

Nowadays I earn enough to buy the stuff...

btw Ninja's are much cooler!!

I agree it all depends on two things, availability and how much money you have because original games cost too much.

In recent times there have been alot of games banned in Aus, which is fine for PS3 as you can import as it is region free. Sadly the Wii is not, hence people will go to measures of modding the Wii and pirate the game just so they can play it.

Cost of games, they claim prices go up because of lost revenue due to piracy. Load of crap. If the prices of games went down by 30-50% then piracy would drop significantly.

Example of this here in Aus, is PC games. Alot them them are much cheaper then when games use to come out $99AUS dollar games now launch anything from 50-80 and only REALLY big hyped games cost $99AUS. Guess what I see alot of PC games being sold then their use to be.

Here in Aus Wii games are $100AU, 360 and PS3 are $120-$130AU, when they launch. Now this may not seem like it is much as our dollar has slipped to about 64cents US, but those are the same prices we had then our dollar was 98cents US. So almost dollar for dollar. Imaging trying to pay thse prices in US dollars.

It is only in recent months that shops like JB Hi-Fi and Big W have lowered those price points and always have sales. So it is really easy to pick up wii games when they launch for $79-89 and 360/PS3 games for $89-$99.

I love how people justify breaking the law.

Not a fan. Though i can't outright hate it due to people playing the overexaggeration game about both what it is and what it does to the industry.  It's not killing the industry, the industry has bigger problems.  It's just being a scapegoat.

Also it's not even piracy or stealing.  It's copyright infringment, and it's basically only illegal because it's easy to do.  If Jesus came back from the dead and started copying food like he used to, nobody would throw Jesus in jail (for that.)

Digital Media is the only thing that's illegal to copy, because it's really easy to copy digital media.  Which if we didn't have interventionist governments would mean that said companies would need to find a different buisness model.  Which would be healthier but oh well.  Since we do have such an interventionist government piracy is wrong.

Another reason I can't hate it is that often times companies specifically instigate things to "stop piracy" that they know won't even dent piracy like some DRMs and shit which only hurt the playing customer, causing me to lose respect in the developers.

Maybe you should try living off of $400 a month and then try to NOT justify piracy.

It does not mean that if it is the law it is the absolutely "right thing".

Try living off $50 a month. You need to be a bank manager for that salary here in our country.

Thank you. I was in Mexico studying about the huge difference in cultures, especially how the US is so focused on "the law." Meanwhile their culture is more focused on family, friends, and other things that mattered more, which they used as an excuse to corruption as well.

Ouch, that is definetly worse than what we had to go through when I was growing up. I just know that if put in the same situation I'd start pirating on the spot and be proud of it. My dad is a PhD in math and I'll be damned if I give 1/4 of the salary of someone who actually furthers humankind to an entertainment industry who really doesn't do crap in comparison.
