SNES was perfection. Genesis comes in a close second. Dualshock was ok, as was GC and original Xbox. N64 was awful... except for Goldeneye, Mario64 and Zelda. And those are all the controlers I've ever played on.

1, NeoGeo stick
2. Nes Dogbone
3. Saturn 3d stick
4. Vectrex pad (the 1st really good controller 4 face buttons and a decent analog stick)
5, Virtual boy pad, comfortable, well layed out shame using it required sustaining eye damage

1. Nintendo GameCube. At least the control stick lasted forever even after playing over 2000+ hours of Super Smash Bros. Melee (comparing to the N64's stick... ugggh!)

2. Xbox 360. I love the placement of the analog sticks, it feels very good.

3. SNES. Best D-pad ever. Though, it hurts your thumb when your controllers are starting to get used too much. :(

4. Wiimote + nunchuck. Just play Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition!

5. Dualshock. I loved the rumble at the time of the N64. At least it would always work, no need for stupid batteries!

Not in order, my favorites:

SNES/classic controler - Simple and good, perfect for 2D platforms
N64 (nice idea 3 places to put the hand, you have good access to the D-pad if you wanna play fight games and to the stick if you wanna play other types of games). One let down is the low durability of the stick.
Wiimote+nunchuck - almost perfect, except for fighting games.
X360 - Stupid d-pad, but great controller over all.
DC - Didn't use too much but I like the idea of the VMU, they should put it in every controller.

I honestly haven't used many controllers, but I'd say my favorites are:

1. Wii Remote + Nunchuk combo
2. PS2 DualShock wireless controller (Psyclone brand)
3. SNES controller
4. GameCube controller
5. Wii Classic Controller

The NES pad is way at the bottom, as it hurt my hands something awful back when I was a kid.

xbox controller is like to hold a a shoe and also is too heavy, wii controller is perfect, ps3 controller has balance, snes control is classic that the reason everybody loves it
