Forums - Website Topics - NeoGAF up to their usual tricks again

Neogaf is a joke. Most of their mods are plain evil.

They hate Xbox and microsoft. Almost every MS fanboy there will get a real nasty tag about them placed by the mods. While Sony fanboys run rampant.

It's hilarious to go in like a Halo 3 thread where people are casually and positively discussing the game, and notice almost every poster in it has some tag insulting them (because they all like MS, being in a Halo thread)

It's the same in OT with politics. All the bully mods give nasty tags to the conservatives who disagree with them. If they aren't banned outright.

That whole site is evil, seriously. Their head mod is named "evilbore" and I find that kind of ironic, because they aint kiddin.

NeoGaf severs should be burned to the ground, period.

Around the Network

The NeoGaf guys were basically brainwashed by a few NPD shills and now the mods/admins won't let anyone say anything else about it to keep them that way.

It's ironic.

Back in Febuary, I got banned for 2 weeks because I was "flaming" someone over the issue of the possibility of a 120gb hard drive coming out on an HDMI unit. Everyone was so against the idea, and I basically responded stating they were dumb, and didn't want to recognize that MS was going to do it.

After the ban lifted, I was vindicated because within 4 weeks, the Elite was announced, to my exact specs.

Either way, I already submitted my 2 cents and made it civil as Mr Killemgood. I was just trying to get them to understand that NPD has a monopoly on the info - regardless if you do or don't agree with the data, atleast it's trying to spur on more/better development in the software tracking market.

IMO, this is the biggest issue not only with VGC, but the market. In movies, the tracking firms provide DAILY numbers and tracking for hundreds of movies. They also provide nearly-weekly numbers for international movies, and this information is pay-for by the firms, but cheap enough form BOM to buy, as well as The Numbers, HSX, and others to purchase.

Then we have NPD. They release monthly numbers that cost tens of thousands of dollars to buy the full monthly reports, and try to screw ioi and others out of competiton. Its absolutely atricoius whats going on.

I agree with NeoGAF that ioi's numbers are inaccurate, many steps of the way. But who really cares? It's 1 man vs. 1,000 employees. Of course your going to be off. But what ioi has done is amazing. It's gone from a backyard project to something that's got NPD worried - in just a year. Thats why I fully support VGC by doing the prediction league, moderating, and whatever else I can. Simply put, ioi doesn't have the be-all accuracy, but he has the be-all end-all suppository of information that NPD and even Famitsu and MC cannot match.

And ultimately, with the way the fact that ioi is litterally the only public/free voice in a $10b a year market is amazing. I just wish I woulda done it before he did, as I searched the net for years before realizing Famitsu, MC, and NeoGAF Sales Age existed.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I would advise ioi (and anyone else who feels a need to "defend" vgchartz) to just let it go. That's a tough pill to swallow sometimes, but better than wasting time fighting a hopeless and impossible fight. If you put yourself out there on the Internet, doing absolutely anything, people are going to come after you. Say mean things, demean your efforts, discredit your motives - you get the picture. It's unavoidable. Rather than fight back, the best thing to do is ignore the trolls as best you can, and carry on with your goals. Logical minds will quickly discover who's providing an honest service, and who's simply trying to hurl slander back and forth. And those who want nothing more than easy answers and inane chatter... would you really want them on your forums anyway?

I can't believe that a major website would act in such a childish manner. I'm not doubting ioi, I just can't believe that a forum would have such blatant censorship in place. You'd think that vgchartz was some kind of child pornography ring based on that reaction... Still, if neogaf wants to act in such a fashion, just respond by ignoring their site and leaving their forums. As steven787 stated, that kind of behavior is self-defeating in the long run.

Sorry ioi, can't do it. Here's why.

Your numbers will speak for themselves. You think Sony/M$/Nintendo fanboys are bad? Forum fanboys are even worse. They're all lemmings in a way and it's just not worth the hassle trying to convince them. Sure, you can convince a few, but it's not worth the aggravation. Look at what's happened, on its own, without any interference so far. NeoGaf is getting members inquiring more and more about vgchartz when they know perfectly well that it's against their rules. Just give it more time. More and more people will start to see the value of your work and will have the blinders removed from their forum overlords and the respect this site deserves will begin to show.

Asking us to defend the site appears as a sign of weakness, when in fact, we're on top of the hill with the strongest position. :D

I've been doing this on numerous forums before so I'd be glad to help out on Neogaf as well.

Oh I see ioi, I didn't acknowledge the 'locked' thread bit, soz, now I understand xD

Ioi, if I were you, I wouldn't even be bothered with NeoGAF at this point. Their heavy handed tactics and biased mod behavior will ultimately render them irrelevant. They are going start losing users because of their actions and pretty soon there will not be much left of NeoGAF to worry about.

The forum I was on before this banned anyone who said anything negative about the PS3.

Things that have changed since the last Generation of Gaming:

- Nintendo has shown us you can have the best selling console of all time with virtually no games for it.

- Graphics suddenly matter to Sony fans but Reverse Compatibility and Dual shock oddly enough don’t.

- Kiddy Crap is trendy with Hardcore gamers now that it’s no longer Nintendo’s “thing” (Viva Piñata, Little Big Planet, Banjo Kazooie 3, LBP)

- Third Party Developers are now essentially the equivalent of Video Game street pimps.

- Gimmicks are no longer fads (Wii-mote)... Well, not all Gimmicks (PS-Eye)
