Forums - Nintendo - Is Metroid 3 reason enough to buy a Wii?

I personally am I person that would not consider ANY single game enough reason to buy a game.

However, if any one game WAS, I'd think Metroid Prime 3 will be.

For just Metroid? IMO No. $300 for 1 game isn't a good idea IMO. But make sure you get Mario, Brawl, Mario Kart etc. when they come out too.

Press is saying that SMG is turning to be much better than MP3.

Mp3 controls are to similar to MP: Hunters

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Yes.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

 Not really.

I guess it's my memory of how much fun we all had with Mario Kart when I shared a house with some buddies but yes I would buy a $300 machine for Mario Kart. The same way some people will buy a PS3 for FF13.

I would not advocate buying a console for a specific game. I would recommend buying a console for the library of titles. Since nobody knows your own personal preferences for gaming. All of the consoles have holes in their libraries. So the question is do you think you can enjoy the other AAA games on the Wii. Unless you can say you would enjoy those titles I would stay away for the time being.

Right now if your interested in First Person Shooters stay with your 360 the joke is that you cannot turn a corner without bumping into one. Few games will compare with all three Halos. Furher more Corruption will not support online play. Feel pressure see what the PC has to offer. Generally speaking the last console to go to right now for FPS would be the Nintendo.

Wow, thanks for all the replies... I'm not really an FPS fan but for some reason, Halo was great to me. I prefer the more linear style that is shorter than the open-world concept. Games like grand theft don't do anything for me nor do games like unreal. On my 'cube, I really enjoy Mario Kart and that certainly is a title I'm looking forward to. Resident Evil 4 was awesome! Again, a linear game without a lot of wandering.

I don't do fighters so SSBB isn't something I'm interested in. SMG might be but will depend on how "fresh" the gameplay is. I burned myself up on Super Mario 64 so much so that the whole idea of another 3D mario title doesn't appeal to me.

Also, I don't do online and that's not an issue.

As far as the "graphics" comment, The cube was great, but I really would have preferred that Nintendo put just a little more "gusto" in the cpu/gpu. I didn't expect 360 or PS3 levels of hardware, but more than they did. I fully agree with gameplay over graphics. I always have and always will. I do, however, really like nice graphics as well.

So to further my question, tell me how MP1 and MP2 played on the cube. Are they adventure? Puzzle? RPG? Compare to other games that are similar... I may just have to go get MP1 and/or 2 at Gamestop used since my 360 is out for repair.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Well, I think its worth it. Metroid prime is one of the all-time greatest video games. Echoes was not quite as good, but still excellent.

But if your looking for linear, forget it. It is all about exploration and backtracking once you've obtained new abilities.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like the Metroid games for you. Linearity is not something they do. They're closer to adventure games (lmainly exploring with lots of action thrown in) than a straight-up shooter.

You can probably find either of the first two cheap for GC, so try picking one of those up first (I heartily recommend the first game).
