On a more general note: Is anyone else really not excited about Halo 3? With the swath of good XBox360 games that are new IPs (BioShock, Mass Effect, etc.), Halo just looks like a rehash of last gen. Or maybe it's just that I've been tired of straight FPSes for years. I feel like there's a general sense that "this will sell shit-tons" from online venues, but not the sort of buzz and excitement that exists for BioShock (or a variety of other games accross platforms).

It will probably sell quite well, because of casual players, but I'm not sure it's the monster everyone makes it out to be...

 I wasn't really that excited -- especially with bioshock out today, but after having just finished Halo 2 and getting left hanging in the end, I NEED to finish this game, lol.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that's lazy work on animation by the developers and not a cut-and-dry indication of system power.

 yeap you are right... and I don't recall Halo 2 being stiff on anymation in solo mode and stuff were happening in the back ground and it was last gen

but I agree... but i would have to say that I haven't seen a game like that and just video for especially from sony don't make the trick with.... when i'll see it i'll trust it... and it's good because even if it's the competition that put the bar higher for future games on the other consoles.... that's a good thing

arf people have to stop comparing GoW and halo.... you have a view in the background way longer and maps way bigger too.... it's like comparing a high quality stamp and a poster....

and I don't see why a sucker like Mark Rein would say Halo is better if it's not true.... he is not the kind of guy to support the competition usually....

but after that it's an opinion too... just people have to compare thing that are comparable.... and in GoW you have a lot of duplication of textures too... that helps a lot also.... I don't know about halo I haven't played it yet :P

PS3 isn't gonna shine for atleast 2-3 years.
2-3 years when we're like "OH DAM now thats better than XboX 360".

The Halo fans should read this month's Wired article on Halo 3. It has a big article on the making of Halo 3 that was pretty interesting to read. It was cool reading that they brought in actual human-computer interaction psychologists to make the gameplay better. From what I read, Bungie has spared no expense in making this game improved from the last two. Expect a more balanced multiplayer, in other words, the melee items like warhammer should be just as useful as the guns are, which should be just as useful as the dual-weilding guns which will carry less ammo, which should be just as useful as grenades. They designed this to make every class able to stand against another.

I like the ones posted on the 21st, they show that the game is quite vibrant in colours, which has been lacking in fps games lately
