It's half sony's fault that they are losing, it seems people tend to forget, how arrogant sony was in 2006. It's a good lesson to them, consoles should a cheap, affordable fun.

Yes I completely agree with that statement, and sony were cocky and stupid thinking that people would get two jobs for the PS3.

Id love to make a thread on it, but this is an entirely different subject.

... I got a second job to get my PS3. It's not Sony's fault everyone else is lazy. Note: I really did.

I wouldn't even say that all of MS's spending has yielded a victory considering that their best-case scenario for this generation is to end up a distant, unprofitable second just a few million ahead of third place.

A lot of this list sounds like what Sony did to Nintendo (even down to the reference to Star Ocean 4). It's eerie.

This!  But of course no one will listen to the real truth <_<

Anyway it's all fair in business, get over it people, businesses buy other businesses, and when you have large corporations like MS and Sony that's how they make their bread and butter, they make products, run other companies out of the market and do it by any means necessary.

This is a beautiful meltdown! I'm excited to see this one get topped by Nov and Dec NPD though.

I'm with you on that one. I didn't even bring popcorn. Popcorn would've been great to watch this unfold.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

About the second job thing....

people misinterpretated or mistranslated it....

it was MEANT to say "We want to make people think the PS3 is so awesome & a must buy item that they will want a second job to pay for its high price"

so SONY wanted to bring in the feeling into consumers that the PS3 is so awesome & if they can't afford it....it would even be "worth getting a second job" for it.

The getting a second job was a "phrase" they used.....they didn't mean it literally.

I get the vibe that Microsoft is just wanting to monopolize the gaming industry. You may remember back when, when microsoft was taken to court for "supposedly" monopolizing. Even though they were cold-heartedly doing so. If Sony were to fall out of the gaming industry, Microsoft would then go after Nintendo. If Microsoft beat Nintendo somehow, most likely MS would just try to buy them out. To take it a step even further, if MS was the remaining gaming division most likely we would see outrageous prices, just like all of the X360 accessories, operating systems, ms office programs, etc. You have to look outside the box to see it. This is why I wish that Nintendo and Sony were the only gaming companies out there.

You forget that Sony wants to monopolize the gaming industry as well. All of the major corporations who joined the console war do. Those include Microsoft and Sony. Sony started the war beating on smaller companies like Sega and Nintendo. Microsoft isn't doing anything Sony hasn't done. They destroyed Sony's near monopolistic clutches of 3rd party support. The true wealth is in 1st and 2nd party now. Remember:If Sony is smart they will keep their 1st party and not drop them like they did in the past.

Chocking?

Or, wait. Do you mean choking?

leo-j - You're not exactly old enough to remember the history of what Sony did to enter the gaming market anyway.

Yep, what goes around comes around. Leo-j managed to replicate the Sony playbook for winning the PS1 vs. N64 war.

In detail:

"Stealing" Nintendo 3rd party franchises like Final Fantasy

Making the N64 look not hardcore enough

Convinced consumers the PS1 was far superior to the N64 despite having a significantly inferior processor.

Sold the PS1 at a loss expecting to make the money back on software.

Sony were arragont like hell. They even called xbox 360, xbox 1.5. I hated sony back than, but they somewhat became humble, after getting destroyed, for about a year. I mean sony were bunch of d1cks back than.
