Forums - Nintendo - Will the Wii ever match the 64 in terms of awesome platformers?

Actually, imo, even the GC had better platformers than the Wii (Mario Sunshine, Star Fox Adventures, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Prince of Persia).

I love DKCR but I've never been a fan of Super Mario Galaxy. I so wanted to like that game. I completed it twice but it felt bland both times. Perhaps I should give Galaxy 2 a shot.

What?! But Super Mario Sunshine was terrible. And Jungle Beat was a weird spinoff while DKCR is a full blown Donkey Kong Country, and the Wii has a Prince of Persia. And Dinosaur Planet dissapointed a lot of people when they forced Rare to slap Star Fox on it.

The GC isn't even in the same league as the Wii when it comes to platformers.

Sunshine was awesome!

I agree that DKCR is better than Jungle Beat though.

And Star Fox Adventures was probably the best platformer last gen. It was amazing! I looooove dinosaurs!

And the Prince of Persia of last gen were way too awesome for the ones of this gen.

you should. And when you say completed you mean 100% or you just got 60 stars and beat it?

Also galaxy 2 is much better than galaxy 1. and the reward for getting all 240 stars is awesome. Eventhough some of the green stars are dull some are really clever. I would definetely advice you to try it.

Well maybe not 100% but pretty close.

Starfox Adventures is not even a platformer.

Are you sure it's platformer you like?

dude, give galaxy 2 a chance. It SO deserves to be played. it is so much better than the first. galaxy 1 does indeed fell a bit bland to me now that I 100% galaxy 2.

(@kungkras Sunshine WAS/IS awesome)

It already has as Nintendo 64 never had a decent platformer.

Blasphemy! Platformers doesn't have to be 2D to be decent.

Yes they have.

No they don't :<

Yes they do. 3D Platformers aren't platformer games at all, they are just average treasure hunting, something I can do much better in my backyard.

Above: still the best game of the year.

No they don't!

They have platforming in them as the main part of the gameplay, so they are platformers, and many of them are very good games. (I know that 2D works better for some games, like Mario, but 3D platformers have their place too)

I hope this doesn't turn into an infinate loop :S

They are more about resolving little puzzles like frozeing the water or pressing 8 switches before the time rans out, far of what a platformer is.

Platformers aren't my favorite games to begin with but I'm pretty sure Star Fax Adventures would be considered a platformer. It may also be an action game.

I agree that Stafox adventure was awesome, it was one of my favourite games on the GC (I love dinosaurs too) But imagine if you had played as Krystal the entire game, and if the heavily flawed and awkward Starfox story wouldn't have been there. It would have been too awesome for words.

Wasn't the Prince of Persia on Wii a last gen port?
