Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why does Nintendo take that long to make games compared to HD consoles?

@ Kylie - Sorry but your post makes no sense as a counter argument... I'll admit that the "priviledged" comment was a bit overboard but what you said made no sense. Nintendo offer a lot of games and have been at each generation (they often to seem to be the only ones on their consoles...).

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

gee i don't know just think about it... nintendo games are tended to be very long hourly games and those games takes time to make.. like the legend of Zelda.... it took nintendo about 5 years to make twilight princess... mario games take 3 years to make because nintendo likes to make those games PERFECT!!! .. i mean mario is a gaming icon after all...

Nintendo doesn't have tons of high-quality studios dedicated to making only hardcore games. EAD 1, EAD3, EAD 4, EAD Tokyo, Retro, HAL, and a few more, but it's nothing compared to the huge amounts of teams that MS and Sony have at their disposal(counting 3rd parties).

Well you also have to consider that Nintendo actually also supports their handheld (unlike Sony) side with lots of a internal development. So the actual break down is a little different if you look at it that way ...

NSMB (2006) Super Mario Galaxy (2007) NSMB Wii (2009) Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)

Zelda: TP (2006) Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (2007) Zelda: Spirit Tracks (2009) Zelda Wii (2010/11)

Animal Crossing (2002) Animal Crossing: Wild World (2006) Animal Crossing: City Folk (2008)

Mario Kart Double Dash (2003) Mario Kart DS (2005) Mario Kart Wii (2008)

Though I would agree the incremental improvements in Animal Crossing are lame.

Nintendo does need more studios, but they are also in the process of building a massive new R&D/development expansion in Japan (they purchase a large chunk of land last year for it). You probably will not see the benefits of this expansion until the next cycle of Nintendo platforms though (DS2, Wii 2).

its the love

I think you guys have to remember that Nintendo splits its resources between both the DS and Wii.

I think its how Nintendo keeps things fresh adn not release a sequel every 2 yrs. Seriously i'd rather they do that than ruining a franchise. Plus they have alot more franchises to work on unlike 3rd party companies that rly focus on 2-3 franchises

That building won't be up and running until like 2014 or something, right?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
