Hmmm...this thread dampens my spirit for this game...

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I enjoyed it because I am a sci-fi horror fan. Big Time.

In terms of atmosphere, it was great at the start but I agree it did start to become repetitive. Go hit this switch, go to next room, shoot the baddies. Next chapter. Rinse and repeat.

Still even with that I still found that I enjoyed the game but another point I agree with that many others have mentioned is also how the game can get you at first, like when your first see a monster jumped into the wall, climb up the pipes and then somehow come down from the ceiling and be behind you. At first that freaked me out. After a while though it does become expected.

I have not finished the game though, I have trouble with that these days, I can't finish anything.

Sometimes it is also way too damn dark. I hate the main characters space suit.

Still though, I enjoyed what I have played so far.

I want a 2KBoston game (Bioshock) set in space. After playing Bioshock, I feel they are the masters of atmosphere. I was on the edge of my seat the moment I started playing that game.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Also, when you say you didn't find the game scary I disagree. I thought it had great atmosphere, immersion, gameplay, and production values. The story was also relatively fair.

It's flaws were bad bosses and repetitive enemies, but the pros vastly outweigh them.

As for the dismembering being a gimmick, so was the Zero-grav rooms, but they were awesome, and truly only possible in this gen. Excellence. Gimmicks are fun and popular for a reason.

9/10 easy. Scary as shit, and better than the last Silent Hill.

This statement is so true, i didn't get bored of the enemies until the end. And i played it on hard...and damn im glad i did. So many good moments of panic, truly awesome game.

Because it is Resident Evil 4 in space?
plus your short changing the story, it actually is fairly good, and the voice acting is also good

RE4 had no strafing, which I loved.

OT: Some people will like a game and some people won't. Some people will find it amazing and some will think it sucks.

so it is Resident Evil 4 in space, with strafing! not exactly a massive difference, the general feel of the combat is still very similar as is the general world design, as in connecting corridors, quick timer enemy escape, a similar weapon upgrade system (the nodes aren't that big of a difference than just directly paying for upgrades),

the game has a whole lot of similarities and may feel more like a sequel to RE4 than RE5 will

...bad bosses...

What?! The few boss battles this game had were some of the best ever.

While the gameplay mechanics are completely from RE4...I wouldn't really call Dead space a resident evil 4 like game.

For one, Resident evil 4 had character, personality... this doesn't.

Also, people here are saying that Dead Space has a better story than RE4. No it doesn't. It ripped off plot points from countles movies which we've all seen 30 times. Resident Evil 4 had a more campy story but it tried to do something that is somewhat new... I love Sci Fi movies, but if you are going to make one these days...please do somethng original.

Like I said, the core gameplay is interesting and is the only thing that jusifies this game for me. Some design choice really boggle my mind...like...was that gravity gun really necessary? did anyone have to do any clever puzzles with that? I don't think so...

Why do I always see other humans behind a glass getting killed? I must have seen that 15 times by now...its not scary, or interesting.

The fact tha the game tells you exactly which way to go all the time (pushing right analog stick in draws a line on the floor pointing which way to go) speaks for itself. Basically designers realized taht everything looks the same an that you won't be able to find your way around so they probably added that feature last minute. Just so you won't be confused by having to read a digital map or anything... I personally like to figure out which way to go in my games...I don't like being told.

In any case, I wouldn't say this game is terrible or anything. I'd give it 7/10.
It just saddens me to see how a game that ripps off everything from other games/movies can be considered AAA.

I as well thought bosses were alright. Go figure...

Because it is a better game than Gears of War II and Fable II.

Dead Space its great, no matter what you say. Silent Hill Homecoming don't scared at all and Im big Silent Hill fan, but Silent Hill Homecoming doesn't so good like his predecesors.
