While the gameplay mechanics are completely from RE4...I wouldn't really call Dead space a resident evil 4 like game.
For one, Resident evil 4 had character, personality... this doesn't.
Also, people here are saying that Dead Space has a better story than RE4. No it doesn't. It ripped off plot points from countles movies which we've all seen 30 times. Resident Evil 4 had a more campy story but it tried to do something that is somewhat new... I love Sci Fi movies, but if you are going to make one these days...please do somethng original.
Like I said, the core gameplay is interesting and is the only thing that jusifies this game for me. Some design choice really boggle my mind...like...was that gravity gun really necessary? did anyone have to do any clever puzzles with that? I don't think so...
Why do I always see other humans behind a glass getting killed? I must have seen that 15 times by now...its not scary, or interesting.
The fact tha the game tells you exactly which way to go all the time (pushing right analog stick in draws a line on the floor pointing which way to go) speaks for itself. Basically designers realized taht everything looks the same an that you won't be able to find your way around so they probably added that feature last minute. Just so you won't be confused by having to read a digital map or anything... I personally like to figure out which way to go in my games...I don't like being told.
In any case, I wouldn't say this game is terrible or anything. I'd give it 7/10.
It just saddens me to see how a game that ripps off everything from other games/movies can be considered AAA.
