Please. Last gen Sony survived off of 3rd party titles. The other titles were popular but didn't come as close. Sony didn't stop Nintendo into the ground only with it's own games. Think of all the freaking great titles on Sony that stood in the shadow of the commercialism of 3rd party titles on the Playstation 1 and 2. I loved both system and even I know that. I have a great library of PS1 and PS2 games as well. Top selling Sony titles ever: 1.Grand Theft Auto series-Multiplat between GBC/PS1/PC....(The game was never exclusive to Sony until PS2) 2. Final Fantasy main series-Nintendo and then went to Sony. Nintendo got the left over shit. 3. Metal Gear Solid series-Started off on Nintendo and went to Sony Alot of people gave Sony alot of credit for Tomb Raider, but it was multiplat. Crash Bandicoot was a great platformer for the Playstation that raked in the cash for Sony when Spyro and Tomba couldn't and Sony dropped the ball with it. The only top selling Sony game that sold more than the 3rd party was Gran Turismo. PERIOD. For your information Mass Effect is multiplat and you don't hear MS fanboys bitching about it do you? No. Why? Because Sony fanboys are loyal to a machine to the end. The exclusives that Microsoft managed to gather from Sony realized the profits they could make by being multiplat. Microsoft has a much more active installed base still. Soul Calibur IV on 360 outsold the PS3 version because of that installed base. Alot of people who own PS3's and Xbox 360's actually have a large base from owning PS2's. Obviously that you can see that alot of gamers fled to the 360. I did it, but I'm still buying a PS3 with Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur IV. I just so happen to believe that fighting games play better with a Playstation controller and that is that. I have the choice because I will be able to logically choose the strengths of both systems. I have no attachment to PS3 nor the 360. Come on man, you're better than this. I have great respect that you are making games, but if you're going to make games, you have to understand the nature of business. Sony and Microsoft are cut throat corporate giants. Don't ever let down your guard on either of them. Explain something to me and this I really want to know. If Microsoft was shelling out all their money to get 3rd party games, then why did they have such a powerful system last games and all of the interesting games were 1st and 2nd party and the rest sucked? Where were all of the 3rd party games that they were supposed to shell out money for man? Corporate attributes:
-Microsoft:Cut throat and has monopolistic tendencies. Currently hiding their cockiness behind a humble coat until they destroy Sony. Will fire developers but procure IP's. Before videogames they worked on OS and programs compatible and hardware while monopolizing that market. -Sony:Cut throat, extremely cocky and blind & proud. Has a lack of consideration for investments unless they are top sellers (Hence why they mainly showed off 3rd party games rather than 1st party in the gens before). Has not had the power ever to monopolize anything although they aspire to (Hence why they bought Columbia Pictures). They've successfuly become a conglomerate. Come on man. They are both a very similar beast. |
Sure they r. But if MS replaced Sega, who will replace Sony?
